Mary Washington Hospital

My wife delivered early by c-section and our twins spent around a month in the NICU, Our experience met or exceeded expectations at all times. The doctors and nurses were incredible. At times there were some issues with communication, but overall we had a positive experience. The hospital is spacious, modern, and clean. Staff is friendly.

Worst experience from hospital staff that i can recall. A nurse, heavy set, wears glasses and has blonde hair that worked the night shift on December 16/17th was the rudest nurse I've ever encountered. ZERO bedside manner, extremely dismissive, and doesn't doesn't have the right to be a nurse. She should be fired. I will find out her name and I do expect there be repercussions. She was totally dismissive toward my S/O. This nurse should be reevaluated Immediately. It's only gotten worse since my S/O's stay. Staff is completely incompetent. They refuse to let me visit or even transfer my calls. It's CHRISTMAS and I've been hung up on and dismissed by nurses located at 2 NORTH. 5 NORTH IS ALSO JUST AS BAD. Horrible Dr in ER, Babak, Porouz! Doesn't talk to you about anything, didn't look at the wound. Tries to stick a bunch of tests on you that aren't needed. When you turn one test down he discharges you with a walk in bp of 159/97 and possible clot. Staff around him/nurses, absolute attitude. Girl claimed I had an attitude, when It appeared she almost broke her finger slamming her pointer down to where the doctor's name was on the paper when I asked with the doctor's name was. Who had the attitude?... Yeah. Horrible place.

After my wife delivered at this hospital, we will be going to a further away hospital after our experience. I suggest going to NOVA, RVA, or Charlottesville. This hospital provides poor care due to a lack of processes for patient care and being cheap. Let me begin with a few positives. The doctors and nurses were mostly great, though there were some better than others. Lactation was helpful and knowledgeable. The suite for labor and delivery was spacious, clean and comfortable. This hospital cares more about squeezing every dollar out of a patient more than providing quality care. The food provided food is worse than food I was given in the military with the worst powdered eggs I’ve ever had. The hospital does not provided the appropriate materials for postpartum care. They have a whole parking lot where anyone can park, with only two EV charging spots, and no one enforces the EV car spots, so me, with an EV, who could have desperately used a charge, had to park in regular parking. They also took my husband’s IV line out wrong, and blood sprayed all over his jeans. I’d go over the bridge to UMD hospital if I had the choice.
