Mary Washington Hospital Fredericksburg Emergency Medical Alliance

I didn't even know I owed money until I got a collections notice. I did not know I was goimg to be billed separately by a 3rd party provider. Over the last 2 years, this group failed to submit claims to my insurance and to my child's secondary insurance for three separate ER visits at MWH or MWH affiliates. Now it is well past the timely filing dates, which means I am on the hook for something that would have been 100% covered by our insurances.

I went to the hospital a few weeks ago. I recieved my bill and paid it the same day. Imagine my surprise when I got another bill from this organization for a 2nd claim. When I reached out to my insurance about what it was for a why I owe money they said it was for “emergency medicine” even though I never received any medicine for my visit or in the time since. I reached out to Fredericksburg emergency medical alliance to see what it was about. The person I spoke to initially (I can’t remember her name) claimed it was for the time spent talking to the Doctor. I informed them that I did not see a doctor during my visit and she changed the story and claimed it was for speaking with the physicians assistant. She then seemed to be rushing me off the phone claiming I needed to reach out to Staf

$400 for a prescription of amoxicillin… wouldn’t have taken it if the front receptionist had told me. Instead, when I pulled out my card to pay, she told me there’s no charge today. Got a bill in the mail a week or so later. Granted I do not have insurance, but I would not have taken it if I knew the price. Just trying to save you the headache, it was my fault for not pressing the front desk.

They are incompetent, unpleasant and definitely snarky. I'm referring to their internal call center for financial renumeration... the Fredericksburg Emergency Medical Alliance. Their goal seems to be harassment and to go after hospital patients to get payments as opposed to doing due diligence utilizing their limited customer service skills. I believe many of the veterans in the system recognize that the VA has many requirements for medical claims. However, if you are one digit off, get the wrong department, or submit it in unfamiliar form you will not get paid. As a Veteran I am Totally incensed at the Mediocre and Sarcastic Intonation, Lack of Listening Skills, and Impertinent and Rude Staff, and did I mention no due diligence. I went to emergency room with covid. I was treated so poorly. I was but in a room and shut in there no bathroom in the room hooked up to an IV because I was dehydrated and the lady that put my IV did I trouble job.
