Oh, that was the PA? He did not introduce himself nor his title nor his role. My accident and surgery occurred out of state. This is my home orthopedic office. I don’t know the people there very well because my orthopedic surgeon of over 20 years retired two or three years ago or so. My appointment was specifically made on a day when both people would be there, my new surgeon and the PA he works with. I was not introduced to this guy the first time I saw him, two years ago so he could’ve been either person except my surgeon was nicer, Dr. Forthman. I think that surgery was two years ago. Anyway, I was told by the surgeon Who did my recent surgery to expect that I would get x-rayed and then resplinted or casted. First time as a patient here and was treated in a very kind, compassionate and courteous manner by everyone in the practice. I felt that all of my concerns were addressed and taken seriously, and would greatly recommend this practice, and Jacen Martinez, PA-C, to anyone with a shoulder issue.

Very happy with Jacen Martinez at Chesapeake hand and shoulder. He is easy to talk to, listens to my concerns and was able to diagnose my issues with my hand. He encouraged me to follow up immediately if the injection did not relieve the inflammation and pain.

The PA seemed less than interested in my wound. (I partially amputated the top of my thumb by accident). He didn’t ask me what my pain level was or how I was doing. He took off multiple bandages and put on a bandaid after telling me the stitches would dissolve and I didn’t need to come back and I could call them if it got worse. I asked for a follow up appointment and he seemed annoyed. Since then I have hit my thumb so many times I want to cry. Not a great follow up for such a traumatizing experience.

Excellent visit. Dr. Martinez was helpful in his diagnosis and what I should do for it. He responded to my questions with good answers. I’m grateful to Chesapeake Hand!
