Mark Matthes, M.D. - Iowa Ortho West Des Moines

Dr. Matthes replaced my left hip three months ago and it feels stronger than it did when I was younger and had no problems! I have found him to be a wonderful physician and surgeon. He listens and is kind and courteous yet professional. From my very first appointment with him to my several surgical follow up conversations he has been direct, easy to understand, and incredibly supportive of my concerns and recovery. I highly recommend him if you are having any orthopedic issues.

Dr. Matthes is an excellent doctor. He did my left knee replacement in 2010 and did a great job. I now need my right knee replaced as it is bone on bone and is extremely painful. I chose Dr. Matthes to go back to, to do my right knee replacement. He explains everything extremely well. He has a great bedside manner and is compassionate and caring.

This was only my first meeting with DR Matthes so my experience is very limited. I was impressed with how clearly he walked me through the information he had to give me. He told me I had to lose weight but was factual and not remotely shaming - very unusual these days. He was very patient and pleasant. I've waited 20 years to meet my knee surgeon, and I'm glad it's Dr Matthes.

Dr. Matthes is thorough, listened to me, and provided a full range of options. I am very comfortable with his recommendations. I will return to Dr. Matthes and Iowa Ortho when needed.

Dr Matthes and his Staff are very professional. He took very good care of me. He gave me good directions after my hip surgery .
