Look elsewhere. I had my referral sent out back in the beginning of Oct 24. It's now Jan 3rd, 25 without even getting an appointment sent. I kept getting Jane Doe 1, 2, and 3 informing me to submit it differently each time and that the referral could take another 2-3 months to even be considered and/or denied. Primary Care called to get clarification and still got the runaround. After so much time was wasted I gave up and started looking elsewhere.

I totally forgot about my experience with this Dr until his name came up in a conversation. I saw him only once, maybe like 5-6 years ago. At first, he seemed to care about my type 1 diabetes. I mean that is his JOB. About five minutes into the first appointment his tone shifted and he was very condensending and seemed to be very judgemental towards me and my lifestyle choices. You may have the credentials to have passed tests and become a Dr, but having a little empathy towards your patients and recognizing we are all humans would have gone alot further in my opinion. I am not surprised at all by his reviews on here or on the other websites that he has between 3 and 3.5 stars. It does appear that some people vibe with his brashness. Dr. Christiansen has helped me enormously over the last three years. He listens carefully and makes clear recommendations and the reasons for his recommendations. I do follow his advice! He really has improved my health. He and his assistant Betty seem perfect to me. has watched me closely

I would not recommend this Dr. During the 6+ months I saw him, not once did he try to get to the root of my problem, or offer me any advice on improving my symptoms (such as diet, lifestyle changes etc). All he will do is keep prescribing you pills ... that is it. He is impersonal and even though he seem respectful I don't feel like he cares about his patients at all. Getting through to the office is almost always impossible as well, nobody ever answers and good luck getting an appointment within 6 months. I currently need my past lab work faxed to my new doctor, and I've spent 2 days trying to call them (and have emailed them) with no luck. If you care about your health and don't want to just "put a bandaid" on your problem go somewhere else!

Dr. Christiansen has helped me to maintain excellent control of my Type 1 Diabetes. He is caring and is available to help adjust insulin doses and review continuous glucose monitor data on a regular basis. His guidance was especially important during my pregnancy. I am 18 weeks today and doing great with an HbA1c at 5.7, thanks to the support and guidance from Dr. Christiansen and the fantastic team of diabetes educators, nutritionists, etc. at Sharp. He is the best Endocrinologist I have ever worked with, and I have had diabetes for more than 23 years. Thank you, Dr. Christiansen!
