Looksie Optometry

I have been with Looksie for a few years since the pandemic, when I stumbled upon they’re super cute shop on Polk Street. I’m so glad now that they have a location here in East Cut, it’s so convenient that I can just drop by after work. The doctors are very nice, and I feels like they always have some new gadget to try with. The associates are also very approachable, I like the quality and styles of their glasses options.

Great experience with an eye exam! Both Dr. Tran and the other employee working the store were kind and efficient. My exam felt thorough, and Dr. Tran was happy to answer my questions. Would recommend to anyone!

I decided to write this review because my friend just told me about his negative experience with Amy Tran and I realized that he was talking about the same optometrist that I had a less than stellar experience with last year. I also noticed that my previous review and all of the others are now gone, it looks like she took down the business listing and reposted it in order to start fresh. In summary: 1. I was told by the office staff that I could pay extra (I can’t remember the amount, it was like $20-30) to do a new high-tech eye exam that was more accurate and didn’t require dilation, instead of the normal process, and I jumped at the opportunity 2. Dr. Tran, her staff, and her office are wonderful. I loved that booking an appointment online was easy. The office is also spacious and modern. When I arrived, I was greeted and checked in immediately. Dr. Tran herself is very nice and personable, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. The instrumentation and equipment is also very modern (e.g. VR for testing peripheral vision). Finally, all of my information and invoices was readily retrievable from an online portal. Best optometrist office ever!

I really didn’t want to post this review, but it’s come to the point where I need to go public and file a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs. For context, I’ve worn glasses for 24 years and have had a high prescription since I was a teenager. My first experience with Looksie Optometry was about 3 or 4 years ago at their Polk Street office, and it was great. I discovered Jacques Marie Mage eyewear and ordered a pair that looked and fit perfectly, with the lenses edged exactly as I requested. I was a happy customer. About 2 months ago, I returned expecting the same experience and ordered another pair of Jacques Marie Mage frames with my new prescription, totaling $1,000.
