I highly recommend Lil Smiles pediatric dentistry located in San Diego, specifically in the Mission Valley area. The scheduling, staff, and facility were all so welcoming and made attending my son’s first dentist appointment pleasant and memorable! The office was super clean and very kid friendly (also parent friendly with a super cute coffee station). Dr. Toppi made our first appointment with our 11 month old smooth and easy and educated us a lot on things we quite didn’t know. He was very informative and didn’t feel like he was rushing the appointment to get to his next patient. As a first time mom, I felt like this was one less thing to worry about and have a weight of anxiousness lifted off of me after finding Lil Smiles. I called this office because my daughter had a toothache. I specifically asked if the provider was in-network and if a same-day appointment was available, and I was told yes to both. I also confirmed through my insurance policy his name was showing as in network but later insurance said since his office address billed you was different then he is treated as out of network Unfortunately, after the visit, we discovered the provider was not in network, and we were billed out of network. I called to follow up with the office and I was told, yes this particular office is out of network The cost of $430 for a cleaning, X-rays, and exam also felt unreasonably high. I have 3 kids scheduled for an afternoon appointment and called at 6am leaving a message to cancel because 2 of them are puking, they said if I didn’t bring them in I would be charged 75$ each kid. I told them I would bring them in puking and they said ok see you this afternoon! No understanding or empathy for children/sickness. Will not be returning

Made everything so simple and easy! Paperwork is all online, so we were in and out of the office in 20 minutes for our first visit. They got us in right away and were very efficient. It was my son's first dentist appointment and he had a great experience! Would reccomend to anyone! Update: We're on our 3rd visit and I still only having amazing things to say about them💖

I typically avoid writing negative reviews, especially for small businesses we’ve supported for years. However, due to our recent experience, we have unfortunately lost trust in this practice and can no longer recommend Dr. Toppi. To be clear, Dr. Toppi and his staff have always conducted themselves with professionalism. The office is beautifully maintained and creates a welcoming environment for children. We've been bringing our daughter here for the past four years and have consistently had positive visits. At our most recent appointment, we were informed that our daughter required sedation and approximately $7,000 worth of dental work.
