Larkin Community Hospital South Miami

The reason I’m writing this review is that many of the reviews I read online didn’t do justice to the excellence we experienced at this facility. From the start, in the emergency department, Nurse Cynthia and Odell set a high standard, not just clinically but by involving us in decisions and showing empathy. This is not your typical emergency room; they handle both medical and psychiatric needs. The unit is quite small and is a closed unit. At first, that was scary, but the staff allowed me to sit with my brother, making the experience far less frightening. Everyone was very attentive, and despite the many challenges the staff faces, they remained positive and approachable throughout. My mother (Estela) was a patient here at Larkins. The staff was great. I want to specifically mention Oscar the physical therapist. He was amazing. He made sure everyday to consult with me and give me positive feedback on how well my mom is walking and adjusting. I can tell that Oscar loves his job and his patients. Today I attended the Moderate Sedation class with instructors Victor and Mario. The class was extremely informative, well-organized, and engaging. Victor and Mario were amazing instructors—knowledgeable, clear, and very approachable. They explained complex concepts in a way that was easy to understand, shared real-life clinical examples, and encouraged questions throughout the session. Their teaching style made the learning environment comfortable and interactive, and I feel much more confident in my understanding of moderate sedation as a result. Overall, it was an excellent learning experience, and I truly appreciate their dedication and passion for teaching.

I am very satisfied with the orientation program provided for entering the workplace. The classes were extremely helpful and gave me a clear understanding of what to expect, allowing me to clarify many of the questions I had at the beginning. The orientation was very well organized and informative, and it truly helped me feel more confident and prepared.
