Lake Area Animal Hospital

Started out good but it’s always the office staff who messes up your experience. I’ve called and requested prescriptions to be filled 5 times and 2 out of the 5 times ran smooth. 2 times I waited for DAYS for someone to return my call and they will never respond, I have to follow up with them and the last time, I waited 4 hours for a return call that I never got. When I reached out to them, I got a nasty response. One of their receptionists is especially rude. I believe her name is Emily. Little girl with long black hair. She likes to roll her eyes while you’re speaking. She has no compassion what so ever. She actually scoffed when I cried about possibly having to put my 11 year old dog down. Dr. Hughes and the staff were welcoming and supportive of all of my questions at Oatmeal (my Quaker Parrot’s first appointment). I feel like they took their time with Oatmeal and patiently answered all of my questions. I am so glad I found them as Oatmeal’s vet!

Lake Area vets are top notch in veterinary care. I can call day of and get seen for my pet. The Drs are all super friendly and knowledgeable and professional and take time with my questions and examining my pets. Great care for my dogs, cat, bird and bearded dragon. Dr Corda is the best! Dr Hughes and Rhea and Johnson all amazing and the entire team are great! Shout out to Jessie!

I want to share the story of my beloved Zeus and why I would never recommend Lake Area Animal Hospital, especially their Hawthorne location. This is not a reflection on Dr. Corda, who was wonderful and compassionate throughout the process, nor the majority of the staff, who were kind and professional. This is about a failure in leadership, a lack of accountability, and a prioritization of money over patient care. Zeus had been struggling with recurring UTI infections, which we had been treating with another vet. When we noticed blood, we took him to Lake Area in Melrose, where Dr. Corda examined him and discovered his prostate was abnormally large—one of the biggest she had seen. She prescribed medication to reduce testosterone in hopes that it would shrink the prostate and determine whet

Five stars because everyone there seems to genuinely care about their four-legged customers. Staff members are kind, the Melrose location is super clean, our dog has gotten very good care there. This is not a deal-breaker, but I would love to have a more familiar feel, doctor-wise. We have probably been there 4-5 times, and each time, we have a different doctor coming in the room. It's a little bit different for us as we come from a place where our pet's doctor was the same yesterday, today and tomorrow! I guess we are just in a more populated place here, and that is how it goes! Again: not a deal breaker because good care and quality customer service have been provided time and time again! :)
