2 weeks ago, my mom was taken to the ER with abdominal pains. She was there for a week with impacted bowels after the surgical team insisted she didn’t have any bowel obstructions. After 6 days they released her and 1 day later she’s back, vomiting with a bowel obstruction. She had surgery last Thursday. She is 76 years old, has dementia and some other health conditions. We were told she’d be released to a subacute facility Monday. Then they told us Wednesday. Now my sister and I not know what is going on. Neither the doctor nor the caseworker calls to update us on her condition. Yesterday morning when I visited, she was laying in her own urine in her bed. She’s in the Kasych Unit. Facility and staff are amazing. Very accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable, caring. You can’t find a better facility.
