Choosing to pursue nursing is a huge leap of faith, but Jersey College has truly been the net that caught me. From the moment I stepped onto the Port Charlotte campus, I knew this wasn’t just a school, it was a family. To anyone considering this path, you have to put in the work, but you’ll never have to do it alone, I couldn't have asked for a better foundation for my career. The dean, Dr.Voelpel is the best woman I've ever met hands down. The associate Dean Ms.Y is also an extraordinary woman. To whom im most grateful for is the wonderful Gina, she helped navigate my entrance exam, pay for the deposit and always had my back and worked with me around my schedule. Jersey College 10/10, if i had to do it again I'd do it here!
After a terrible experience with another nursing school, I chose to continue climbing towards my goal of becoming a nurse. I found Jersey College in Port Charlotte and scheduled an appointment to meet with the advisor and dean. During that appointment, all of my anxiety that I carried from the previous institution washed away with a simple "we've got you"! I am almost halfway through semester 1 (starting completely over after getting through an entire program) and I have to say they do, in fact, have me. As a student I am respected and supported more than I have ever felt. Exams correlate well with the material we're learning and the staff is helpful in every way they can be. I would recommend this particular program to anyone looking to pursue a degree in nursing.
My overall experience at Jersey College was generally positive. The instructors were knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping students succeed. The hands-on learning environment and the structure of the program helped me build confidence in my skills, and I appreciated the dedication many of the staff showed. However, there were a few areas where the school fell short. Communication was one of the biggest issues—important updates weren’t always delivered clearly or in a timely manner, which caused unnecessary confusion and stress. Additionally, one of the most frustrating aspects was discovering that many of the credits earned at Jersey College are not easily transferable to other colleges. This makes it difficult for students who may want to continue their education.
I would not recommend this school. Save yourself the $55k and go to a school that doesn’t only care about your money (and doesn’t have lawsuits against them). As soon as you pass the entrance exam, you’re immediately congratulated and being fitted for uniforms without transparency of the lies and mental anguish that follow. I’m also glad that concerns regarding a specific instructor whose repeated remarks have been perceived as biased and unprofessional. Nursing is a profession that involves respect to ALL patients making it deeply concerning that such behavior is exhibited by someone responsible for educating our future nurses. Unfortunately, students are dismissed when these concerns are brought to the Dean raising yet another concern of whether cultural respect and diversity are prio
During my second semester of Jersey College, they had a nurse teaching without her masters degree. Not only did she not actually teach our class (she would gossip or talk about her children) the school allowed her to continue teaching while receiving complaints. They allowed this teacher to be a professor for over 2 years. This class ended up not being transferable due to the fact the teacher did not have a degree in teaching. The school did not give anyone their money back for a semester or two wasted. If you would like a credible school this is not the one to go to. If you want liars and staff to deceive you, this is the perfect fit. I have been in contact with a lawyer and will be going after the school for wasting not only my time but my money. Nursing school is not cheap , especially
