Jason Brodkey, MD - Ann Arbor Neurosurgery - Spine Surgery / Back Pain

I worked with Jason Brodkey for 13 years as part of his support team before moving to northern Michigan. I had onset of sciatica 3 years ago and exhausted non-surgical options before electing to undergo surgery 6 weeks ago. It was never a consideration to have surgery at my hospital in northern Michigan. I consulted the expert here and have nothing but rave reviews for Jason and his surgical expertise and support provided. I have had 100% relief of pain and spasms. He gives each and every patient his time and undivided attention. He also operated on my 83 year old Mother in 2017 and she also had a great outcome after undergoing a minimally invasive fusion. You will not find a more talented caring& compassionate neurosurgeon!

Dr Brodkey was wonderful. I had back pain not resolved with PT or an epidural injection. I was in so much pain that I couldn’t stand or walk. I lost 20# because I was in such pain, I wasn’t sleeping. I was miserable. He knew exactly what I needed despite me not wanting surgery. The pain was gone when I woke up in recovery as he said it would be. I went home the same day and recovered without any issues. He was compassionate and a skilled surgeon. Thank you for helping me.

I have had ongoing back pain for approximately 25 years and symptoms down the legs got really bad the past few years. I had tried every non-surgical treatment possible the past few years. I was referred to Dr Brodkey. He explained to me it would be a very big surgery and I should think it over and try other non-surgical options if possible. I appreciate hearing that from a surgeon. The BEST. The good doctor helped me get my activity life back again. He diagnosed and addressed aspects of my condition that other experienced surgeons didn't even mention! My recovery has been excellent - and exacty as he described. 2 months after fusion and laminectomy, and I was able to walk a few miles. And my pain and sciatica, numbness and tingling are gone. I wouldn't risk my back/spine to anyone else.

If you’re looking for compassion, professionalism, or even basic respect, Dr. Jason Brodkey is absolutely the wrong doctor to see. Our recent experience was not only disappointing — it was disturbing. Instead of offering support or taking my husband’s symptoms seriously, Dr.Brodkey dismissed his pain outright, saying “I’m not saying it’s all in your head but… .” He went further to shame him by telling him he needs to “set a good example” for our son and “get back to work,” completely disregarding the very real health issues he came in for.
