This is the worst hospital, and the nurses are unprofessional. I went to the ER for leg pain that turned out to be a blood clot. They left me in observation for 18 hours, and the next day I had to have an emergency exam. I was on a stretcher, in a gown, with just a sheet, and nothing to eat. I asked for a blanket because I was freezing, and they said there weren't any, even though I saw other nurses giving blankets to other patients. I asked for food because I had been there for 12 hours, and they said they don’t have any food, Then I saw other nurses bringing food to other patients. The worst thing happened when I called, crying, for the "nurse" assigned to my section to call my doctor. She left and never came back. I couldn't walk to the bathroom alone, I asked for help, and she just tur
I'm not sure how this hospital has an overall rating of 3.2, but that was not our experience! My sister & I had the unfortunate fate of ending up at Jamaica Hospital over the past weekend. We were traveling home from the Dominican Republic with a layover in NYC when my sister got food poisoning. We were taken to Jamaica & immediately upon entering I knew things would be challenging. The ER entryway was packed with gurneys, nurses, doctors, medics, etc. It was crowded & chaotic. One of my first impressions was a doctor & nurse yelling at a homeless person who had possibly overdosed. They threatened to "narcan" her because she "wouldn't tell them why she was there." I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially because the paramedics had been outstanding. My sister was admitted,
I had a very disappointing experience in the NICU during my child’s discharge. The nurse assigned to us left an hour before discharge without informing me, and I only learned she was gone after the shift change. When I asked for my child’s discharge paperwork, I was told it wasn’t in their system. The same nurse insisted she had already given it to me. I explained that I was in a rush to make a pediatrician appointment and asked if the documents could be faxed, but she was unwilling to assist. When I requested to speak with someone else, she refused. At that point, I hung up because I didn’t want to keep arguing or waste more time. Earlier, when I first called for help, the person who answered the phone was dismissive and handed the call to that same nurse. Overall, the situation was extr
WORST hospital i’ve ever been to. my 5 year old went in for lower right side pain (appendix) and was throwing up in so much pain and it took almost 2 hours to get a ultrasound and x-ray done. when they told me it was appendicitis they had no sympathy they told me to tell him and walked away that’s not my job! i didn’t know how to explain it to him i was scared too! and then to be told by the nurse “why are you so upset “ my son needs surgery it’s his first and it’s scary! like so uncaring not to mention they didn’t communicate with each other the other nurse didn’t even know they gave him medicine already the were asking me what he was given like what the hell. the way the nurse put the iv was so brutal also my son felt so uncomfortable i kept being told the surgeon was gonna come speak to
My father on Dec. 4, 2025 suffered a stroke and was brought to this hospital by knowledgeable first responders. The doctors' and nurses' care was phenomenal. In fact, the entire team including the Social Worker was great. Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is the top hospital matching no other for Stroke Patients. Thank you so much.
