Itasca Foot & Ankle

Highly recommend Itasca Foot and Ankle and Dr. Reed. Went in with pain, needed surgery (which I suspected, and Dr. Reed was very accommodating with my work situation. Had surgery in November and have had a couple of complications, none of which were Dr Reed’s fault but he has been great in helping me through them including taking calls after hours. I am glad I listened to the person who recommended me and I have already recommended a few people myself.

Dr. Mckanna and his team are born for this profession. He performed a second surgery on me because someone screwed up the first one. My foot is healing faster than I thought. Four weeks after the surgery, I was walking on my own two feet without any help. I will never forget it and will be grateful to him for the rest of my life. I highly recommend him.

I Highly recommend Dr Mckanna and staff at Itasca Foot and Ankle Podiatry. Great office environment. Had a tumor removed from the top of my foot which I had thought to be a ganglion cyst for many years. Turned out to actually be a benign tumor. From my initial encounter with the office and Dr Mckanna I was very at ease and pleased with everyone there. Everyone was very personable and caring. Dr Mckanna is a very nice, caring and qualified doctor. I felt very at ease about having him perform my surgery. Had surgery at Glen Oaks Hospital that is a gem of a hospital. It is a small hospital with a nice atmosphere and a caring friendly staff from the front desk initial contact to all the departments I encountered in the pre surgical and outpatient patient surgical areas. Staff and doctor were very nice, but very big on pushing unnecessary surgery. Went in to get checked up after an ankle sprain and was told to get MRIs to check in, fine. I brought in my MRIs and all of a sudden, my entire foot needs to be reconstructed? I was recommended for a tarsal coalition, an exostectomy of my talonavicular joint, a repair of my talus, and a camera to be inserted to explore the rest of my ankle! I couldn’t believe it!!! I was told afterwards I would need to relearn how to walk! I scheduled surgery, but as time got closer, I was finding it easier and easier to put weight on the foot and move around, and I started to second guess the diagnosis. Dr. Alex McKenna was great. He gave me a shot on my left foot that was hurting a lot for about 6 months. When I came here, staff was amazing. Dr. McKenna calmed me down before the shot. They took a X-Ray and he gently rubbed my ankle and in a way massaged it. He told me not to think about it while he did the shot.
