Island Nursing and Rehab Center

Island Nursing and Rehab Center is the best one around. They treat all their residents with dignity and respect. All the staff are pleasant and helpful. My Daughters father was in 2 different places before here and it was a nightmare. He was miserable in the other places but he is extremely happy being here. I highly recommend Island Nursing and Rehab.

I am a friend of Renee Doti. I am here often visiting her. The staff and everyone here are really wonderful! She goes to recreation often and the woman Joan has a lot of fun things for them to do sing along bacon muffins dancing a lot of fun and laughs. Jody really mingles well with the people and he a great personality.

I would strongly caution families before placing a loved one at Island Nursing. My mother was experiencing severe, unmanaged pain while in their care. Despite repeated concerns, her condition was not appropriately addressed, and her pain escalated to the point that she had to be transported by ambulance to the hospital. She will not be returning. During the less than 24 hours she was in their "care", I observed and was informed by her of extremely troubling conditions. On one occasion, my mother was left sitting in a chair for approximately two hours after repeatedly using her call buzzer. When I asked why no one had assisted her, a nursing assistant stated they were busy with lunch service. In another instance, she waited two hours for her medication after buzzing multiple times. My mom recently suffered a stroke. She spent time in the hospital, then at an acute rehab facility, and then at a sub-acute facility. We looked at many places, and hands down, all of my siblings agreed that Island Nursing & Rehab Center was the one that best suited our needs. It began with a tour of the center led by Joy, the Director of Admissions. Boy, did her parents name her appropriately. She was so lovely and put our minds at ease. What attracted us right away was the cleanliness, the warmth of the colors, and - to be honest - it did not look like a typical, depressing nursing facility. It had a lovely energy. My father had a recent stay at Island Rehab and I can not say enough wonderful things...first the facility has had a recent fresh facelift, from a few years ago when my MIL was there. So clean! His room was spacious and spotless. And the staff! Well the staff were just so lovely. They made time to answer questions. They always welcomed us when we arrived. I was so very impressed with the improvements made and with the care the staff gave my dad while he was there. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a facility for a loved one!
