Hyde Park Animal Hospital

On December 4th 2025 I had to bring my cat in for an emergency appointment that ended up resulting in her needing to be euthanized. Something I never imagined having to do. She came in, in very fragile condition. Dr Mintzer was very honest patient and compassionate with me, and laid all the options out on the table clearly with realistic expectations. I never believed in euthanasia, but when I asked him if he believed it was the best thing for her his answer was said with such certainty that I was able to put aside my personal feelings to make the right choice for her. Words can not express the grief, guilt, and the loss that I have felt with her passing, but they can explain how truly compassionate, knowledgeable and just all around good dr he is. My friend had recommended Hyde Park Animal Hospital. I decided to give it a chance. I really enjoyed the care that I was receiving here. Until I noticed a pattern with my visits. It seemed that they added little fees to my bill each visit. It just kept getting more and more expensive. They wouldn't take my dog's insurance either. Dr. Mintzer is really rude too. Has zero patience for the concerns that the family express. He acts like he knows everything, and that his opinion is the only right one. I suggested maybe getting a second opinion when my dog was experiencing behavior issues, and he said that every other vet would tell me the same. He acted like a second opinion was stupid and unnecessary. I got the second opinion, and a third opinion, and each of them said the opposite of him. Ple

Was told my dog needed immediate surgery and not doing so would be fatal. Was told to be there when the doors open the following day to be turned down for service because thw vet "didnt come in". Left in the parking lot with my dying dog and 8 year old I was able to sort through and call 15+ vets to get my dog in for surgery. Not much help from this place. Not much concern. All good. Luckily I was able to get it sorted without them!

We have taken our Frenchy here several times in the last year. The care is wonderful, and the staff is caring, friendly, and extremely competent. Our fur baby is treated like one of their family and given all the attention he needs. Everything is explained in detail and we are even allowed in the examining room. A truly great place to bring your pet.

I had a great experience at Hyde Park Animal Hospital while visiting for a wedding. As a veterinarian traveling with my two dogs, I needed laser treatments for their lameness issues, which worsened after a long car ride. The staff was incredibly accommodating and got us in right away. I truly appreciated the wonderful team they have; the LVT Kai and assistant Courtney were knowledgeable and made my dogs feel comfortable. They even scheduled a follow-up appointment for us on Monday before our drive home. I highly recommend Hyde Park Animal Hospital for their excellent care and service!
