HSC Health Family Medicine

Overall I've been very happy with HSC family medicine since I started using them for my PCP about 2 years ago. NP McKee has taken excellent care of me and been very willing to work with me on how to handle different health concerns. My only complaint, as others have mentioned, is sometimes it does feel impossible to get a live body on the phone, or a returned call. However, lately I've had much better luck with getting people on the phone quickly and having whatever I need handled on the spot.

At first they seemed great. 1) dr are friendly, but because they are teachers, so most of the time they seem not to care. They listen to the problem then instead of attempting to do the work and figuring out the problem they send you to a specialist... HOWEVER, the referals never go through. If they do go through you never get notified. 2) their automated service is aweful. There is always something broken. Eventually you get a human, but no matter what's in the notes you provide... the staff and doctors never read the notes. They keep doing what was done before NO MATTER WHAT WAS REQUESTED. 3) they WILL NOT provide results over the phone. They force you to go in...wait 2 hours to be seen, then say that there isn't anything wrong. Why do you need to wait for nothing. Go to better doctors

I had to call multiple times just to get an appointment scheduled. Every time, I would wait 10–15 minutes on hold, someone would answer, say they were with a patient, and ask for my callback information with the promise of calling me back within 30 minutes—which never happened. I’d end up having to call again, stuck in the same loop. When I finally managed to schedule an appointment and showed up, I was told they didn’t actually have me scheduled. They then realized it was because my appointment had been canceled due to the provider having a closed schedule. They had booked me with him when they shouldn’t have, and no one ever bothered to notify me. When I tried to reschedule, there were no available times that worked for me.

Dr. Barr is great, but I am considering finding a new primary care provider. I don’t believe this is the fault of the providers, they have an administrative issue. It is borderline impossible to get someone on the phone. I had a virtual appointment today at 10:20, did not even hear from them until 20 minutes after. They checked me in virtually at 11:45 and now I am on hold again at 11:10 for probably another 10-15 minutes just to ask someone at the front desk what’s going on. They finally start the appointment and I have to wait another 15-20 minutes just for doctor barr to get on the phone. By this point I had to hang up and return to work, didn’t even get to complete my appointment. They wasted an hour and a half of my day while I was at work. These doctors cause me to lose my pain management doctor. They were going back on 4th on who is going to work on my short-term disability and because they had to talk with my pain management doctor whatever was said she got upset and drop me. There is a different doctor every time I come here and none of them seem to know what's going on. If you want a real doctor you need that relationship and here you're just another person.
