Hoxworth Blood Center Central

I'm sad to leave this review. I have donated 3 times to Hoxworth - twice at their main facility and once at one of their mobile drives. All three times, after the initial technician failed, a manager was brought over to help. Twice, I ended up with hematoma. There was one failed donation, one donation with multiple sticks, and one with lots of wiggling of the needle to try to find the vein. I won't leave a one star review, because I believe in the place and their mission. Please do better regarding the training and retention of your staff Hoxworth. I won't be returning for a long time, because I can't deal with the complications from donating at your facilities.

Super facility for donating blood. Large and clean with friendly phlebotomists. Parking garage ticket is validated. They often offer nice incentives to get people through the door. Schedule an appointment and be in and out in no time.

Was blessed to donate Stem Cells today at the blood center. And WOW this place has got it all together. Our family has had to so many different interactions with hospitals over the past few years and there is nothing to complain about with this place. Great staff, clean facility and I would recommended it to anyone.

Little annoyed. That's the reason for the 2 stars. I'll sport Hoxworth clothing if it something I like. I went to donate blood expecting a 1/4 zip Bearcats sweatshirt and they had Cyclones jerseys, something we wouldn't wear. I contacted promotions and was asked for shirt sizes and my address so they could send me the gear and I received an apology. Well, haven't received the shirts. Pretty sure that promo is over. Yeah, it is something small BUT it was something to get me to donate with Hoxworth. When I was in India, I donated and everyone received a big meal with samosas, sweets, sandwich, chai, and a tupperware style bowl for keeping breads or meals warm. If I could give them zero stars I would. This is the most unorganized, laziest, worst place I’ve ever donated! Don’t get me wrong, I love being a donor, but I also love being treated with respect and that’s not what they do here.
