Highlands-Cashiers Hospital Emergency Room

I was in your Emergency care Jan 2 2026 with rapid heart beat and palpitations. I was from out of town on vacation. The staff there were so nice and quickly took me in. The nurses were so kind. Duane, Dawn, and Kim. Duane really did his best to calm me from my anxiety. I can’t remember the name of the kind gentleman that did my EKG, so nice! Each step they took helped me calm down. Dr Worthington was great! He took the time to explain it all. My test were positive. I could not have ask for better service. I am forever grateful! Thanks to all of you! Mary A.

My husband & I went to the ER about 8:30 one evening due to an A-fib episode. While not a “dire” emergence, we were taken care of & seen very quickly. Everyone we came in contact with was very friendly, efficient, & extremely professional and we felt well cared for the entire time. Kim & Courtney, our RN’s were no nice & attentive & Dr Foy was personable & professional as well. Luckily we were able to return home later that night & felt confident & reassured by Dr Foy’s diagnosis & everyone’s great care! In addition, the gal at the front desk ( I think her name was Tina) went out of her way to be helpful not only with our speedy check in, but with helping me figure out a PAST visit charge ( from a visit last July) that I had recently received in a bill by mail. My visit to the ER went perfect. I was having severe trouble breathing. I got in right away and immediate attention. My nurse let me know up front that Katie was a nursing student. I have great veins and when they came in to drawl blood, I asked for Katie to do it. What I didn't know is that Katie, had never done a needle stick before. It went perfect, she was a little nervous though. It has been 7 days and I don't have a bruise from the stick. Great Job Katie.

I was visiting Highlands and had an episode that took me to the ER in the evening. I must say I have never experienced such attentive and kind people. The lovely lady in admissions was so nice and I spent maybe 5 minutes before being taken back. My nurse, Duane made sure I was well taken care of, even making sure my husband was comfortable. Duane was also so knowledgeable and was gentle when inserting my IV. The young lady who took me for my Catscan was also so nice!! Of course the doctor was informative and seemed very caring. During this time another patient had to be airlifted to another hospital which extended my time in ER which was understandable, but we were comfortable. Another big plus was how clean everything was. You should be proud of your hospital and the employees. Pen

The ER in Highlands-Cashiers was excellent when I broke my nose hiking Whiteside Mountain on July 15, 2025. Dr. Hunt (?) was quick to examine me, stem the bleeding and apply liquid bandages. All the staff treated me (and my husband) with dignity. They also sent an Rx to Ingles Pharmacy immediately and it was ready on the way back to our lodgings. When I returned to Tallahassee, FL and followed up with my ENT doctor, he was pleased with the way my nose was worked on.
