High Desert Medical College

Starting out is was ok for the first week but just kept going down hill. My instructor was doing ok with teaching us to where we all felt confident in what we were learning and all of us were doing great. Then about a month in it went all down hill we just did packets and read PowerPoints. I went to the front office many times with my concerns about the lackluster experience and was turned away or told they would have to take a few weeks or months to get back to me on it. I have told them about my instructors behavior and treatment of me as well as other students and have not received any help. I attended High Desert Medical College for a short time and initially had high hopes. Unfortunately, my experience turned out to be very disappointing. I officially withdrew from the school on October 29, 2025, following all procedures and receiving written confirmation the same day. After my withdrawal, the school performed a Return-to-Title-IV recalculation, yet months later I discovered they had still drawn additional Pell Grant funds in my name. When I contacted the financial aid department, no one could clearly explain why federal funds were collected after my withdrawal, and I was simply told they would “look into it.” The issue remains unresolved. High Desert Medical College was a deeply disappointing experience. The program was extremely unorganized, and leadership was noticeably absent. At the time I left, there was no Director of Nursing or Director of Education, which was reflected in the lack of structure and accountability throughout the program. Several instructors demonstrated unprofessional behavior and inadequate teaching practices. Term two instructor frequently emphasized etiquette and respect, yet did not model those same standards, often speaking to students in a dismissive and disrespectful manner. The worse school, they care about money and not their students. The instructors are terrible as well as the DON.

I had a meeting with the DON and he stated "if you scored high at your previous school you might score lower here because our program is harder" without knowing my scores. I passed the entrance exam way over what was required and he didn't know me. Then it was like you're basically teaching yourself since they don't tell you what answers you got wrong on your weekly tests. Well how am I supposed to know what to study? I was told read the chapter over and over and over until I got it. I've always excelled in school and they made myself and others frustrated. I left after 3 weeks.
