This used to be a decent, caring community facility run by compassionate, loving people. Not now. Not anymore. Ever since the takeover, this has turned into a corporate Leviathan, uncaring and completely dismissive of its own transplant recipients. You no longer get a direct line to the doctors and specialists who treated you -- you are not even allowed to contact or god forbid, email them. You don't even get allowed into the building: they force you take teleheaths, not the comprehensive conversations you would have with your doctors. They treat you like vermin, like fast food customers they're happy to see the back of. No, actually, McDonalds and Wendy's treat their customers with far more respect, to be fair to them. I truly try a leave only good reviews but I hope someone reads this and maybe will learn from what happened to us. I hate leaving bad reviews but this place cost us 1000’s of dollars so I’ll go into detail so you can make sure some of this won’t happen to you. So my wife donated a kidney to her aunt this summer, it was a 3 year year process due to some health issues. So we will get into the story sorry it will be long and truly it became a living nightmare that keeps going even till today 6 months later. So we live in KY so my wife had to travel from KY to FL for all the testing over the 3 years leading up to transplant. So the surgery was scheduled for a Tuesday so the Thursday before my wife flew down for a appointment we’ll the doctor was on vacation so they insisted we had to come in

They transplanted me 7 years ago ( kidney ) dr Layal abdel Rahman is very knowledgeable very thorough on her job very meticulous . She works with the a wonderful surgeons at largo and I can’t just thank her enough and her team for how enormous efforts they are doing to save lives . She likes patients following instructions by the dot . ..the only problem is hard to communicate with them post transplant as they grow big as a practice.

At the HCA FL Transplant & Hepatobiliary Center, the woman working at check-in is extremely rude and blatantly displays discriminatory behavior. Her way of speaking is very unkind and unlike any other hospital I’ve experienced. When you’re feeling unwell, she’s the last person you’d want to interact with. She doesn’t even look at the person she’s speaking to. She truly tarnishes the hospital’s image. I know of several others who share the same opinion as I do.

I went as a follow-up for my whipple surgery to the new location. Dr. Essan is amazing as always. Unfortunately, due to the new office location, there're many hiccups. The front receptionist was not aware of my appointment when I arrived. There is a new system put in place, so be prepared to divulge all past medical history (even if you are a regular patient). Everyone is still training, so the follow-up appointment had approximately a 2 hour duration. Also, be specific if you would like to recieve a paper copy. As an experiment, the manager stated she will place it through the pharmacy electronically, but since she was unsure it would work, she was going to hand us a paper copy ( since that is what we really wanted).
