Misleading Front Desk, Overcharging, and Unnecessary Exams Last year, I scheduled a routine eye exam for my son after he mentioned seeing objects with a double-layer effect. At the time of booking, I clearly informed the front desk that the appointment was for a routine eye exam. Since my 20-year-old son preferred to attend the appointment on his own, he went to the clinic without my company. To our surprise, he was charged $155, even though our co-pay for routine eye exams is only $10. When I called the clinic to inquire, I was told that they are eye doctors who handle medical issues, not vision care, and I would need to submit the receipt to my insurance for reimbursement.
