Great Expressions Dental Centers - Shelby Township

Things just look outdated and dirty inside of this place.. My wife went in for a cleaning and they tried to tell her that she can't just get the covered cleaning but she needs a Periodontal treatment. Obviously that is an expensive surprise. Well this is news we've never heard before. She had to just take it or leave it with no option for the regular cleaning that we went there for. I went in the parking lot to check the Better Business Bureau. They had 244 complaints. I went to AI and asked what would happen on my visit here and it told me exactly what had happen to my wife. Everything just felt wrong. I’ll pass on my crappy dental insurance that directed me here. I’ll just pay cash and go to a state of the art Dentist instead of gambling any dental work here. My dental hygienist was awesome, but the actual dentist ( a young man of middle eastern descent) had terrible bedside. Informed me that my entire back teeth would need to be removed when it wasn’t true, was then informed that my teeth should be monitored and was something he says to scare patients. Then he was rushing to leave without educating me about next steps. The hygienist did above and beyond to educate, that shows the gap with the actual dentist. People (especially first time patients) come to receive care because it’s simply that, to receive care. Scare tactics are old fashioned and by no means acceptable in current day healthcare. It is professionals like these that keep people away from receiving the care they need. I would recommend people to find dental care elsewhere if this

I had a terrible experience at this dental office. I scheduled a cleaning appointment that should have been fully covered by my insurance, but when I arrived, they told me I had to pay out of pocket. They hadn’t verified my insurance coverage in advance, even though that’s something most dental offices handle before appointments. I took time off work and drove all the way there, only to leave without getting my cleaning done. It was a complete waste of time and very frustrating. I won’t be returning to this office and definitely don’t recommend it to anyone looking for a smooth and professional experience.

I cannot say enough great things about my visit with Tonya, the hygienist, and the doctor. From start to finish, the care I received was outstanding. Tonya is amazing—she’s warm, welcoming, and incredibly skilled. She took the time to explain every step of the cleaning, made sure I was comfortable, and was so gentle yet thorough. My teeth have never felt cleaner! The doctor was just as impressive—professional, friendly, and genuinely invested in my dental health. He explained my treatment plan in detail, answered all my questions, and never made me feel rushed. It’s clear that both Tonya and the doctor truly care about their patients and work as a great team. All the personal were great!! the hygienist , the x-ray tech and the Dentist. First impressions make a difference. Forgot about the front desk she was great too.
