My mother has spent some weeks at Gaylord while recovering from a severe stroke. The staff have been incredible, they've been so wonderful and worked so hard to get her back on her feet. And they've also been incredible about making sure her wife felt welcome and included in her rehab and medical decisions. I was originally concerned about aging and medical care for my moms, and feel really lucky to know that there is a rehab center of such high quality in CT and that they are so kind and accepting of LGBTQ patients.
My mother had a stroke then was sent to Gaylord for rehab she didn't get the attention she needs and when she needed go to the bathroom the staff tells her to eat instead going to the bathroom .Plus the Case Manager was rude seem like she doesn't care because my mother fell out of bed , she the case Manager says that's not my job .I heard nothing but good things about this rehab hospital but seem to me it has workers there DON'T CARE .Plus when I call for nurse or my mother room I get hung on and staff members said to me Stop Calling . I just wanted to talk to my mother and updates but Never got . I also seen my mother sitting in wheel chair for 25 minutes her butt was sore and no one came over until I talked to the head supervisor on the phone. Poor . I hope the Head Management reads this
My dad spent 3 weeks at Gaylord after having a stroke. The entire staff was so kind and wonderful. The therapists (PT/OT/Speech) were all so incredible. You can tell everyone there loves their jobs. All of the nurses and PCAs were wonderful too. We spent 8 hours a day for 3 weeks there, so we got to know everyone from the security staff to the doctors. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. It's a top notch place for rehab.
I have been going to therapy at gaylord for about 3yrs maybe more for physical therapy and occupational therapy due to having a stroke which left my left side somewhat impaired my hand and leg fortunately I was blessed to have the very best therapist from each department Jaden is my physical therapist and Mary is my occupational therapist they are the most dedicated compassionate therapist I have ever come across and I've seen quite a few the way they take the time to not just diagnose the problem but to treat it as well is unmatched there knowledge of dealing with patients who have had strokes , spinal cord injuries traumatic brain injuries etc.. is beyond excellent they see multiple patients daily and take the time needed with every single patient never rushed
I thank God I landed at Gaylord Hospital after an unexpected emergency surgery to help regain nerve function in my lower half. Everything from patient care technicians to top notch physical therapy by Finn L and occupational therapy by Elena C helped me regain mobility. I still have work to do but fortunately had a condition where I continued to see improvement each and every day. They even have a car to practice passenger seating! Hooker 2 staff were exceptional, kind and compassionate. I did not feel uncomfortable except for a couple of incidences which I brought to the nurse's attention. I think it was inexperience by the young person and hopeful it has been corrected. I couldn't have asked for or expected better care and treatment. So thankful I landed there for acute rehab. A side
