I really don't post reviews at all. But I feel compelled to share my experience with Dr. Akula after I was referred by my PCP and had my hesitations based on reviews. Maybe I'm just used to the old school no BS docs, so I didn't have an issue with him being straight forward with me about my condition. Others might take this as not being patient centered, which I understand. That is all preference. But he did take the time to explain what was going on with my lungs. He may be behind because he is the only doctor in the office and he takes time with his patients. This is common in doctor's offices and nothing I find unusual. Don’t go to this doctor I have had many bad experiences trying to get a status report on my CPAP usage and no one is available to summarize a report until the following month. I can’t go back to work until I get this report (I’ve been out of work 4 months) and they aren’t helping in finding any alternatives to getting this data from my machine’s SD card. This is bankrupting me and keeping me from getting cleared back to work. They have taken a long time to order my equipment in the past and review my sleep center tests. Appointments take a month to make, and are back to back and shared with other patients making you realize you are just a part of a cash farm as Dr. Akula and his staff never make a personal effort to get to know their patients. Very disappointed in this doctor. His demeanor is not patient friendly and his office is old and outdated. The main issue though is the fact that I they only do pulmonary breathing tests on Monday in the afternoon and I had to switch shifts at work to come in. And then he had the audacity to tell me they’re 45 minutes behind and ask me to reschedule. He dismissed me and refused to acknowledge my issues and told me to come back and see him in three months. Never going back to this horrible place.

Came in with 2 images because one x ray said pneumonia and the CT said nothing. Doc knew I had to pay out of pocket for my visit and still didn't bother to look at the images I brought in, merely took a test of my lung capacity and put a stethoscope to my back and just diagnosed me. Didn't even give me a course of action or explain anything. Wasted time. His office staff didn't keep the info I gave them so I spent an hour on the phone with insurance only for the staff to say"oh wait we got it".

My patient experience was great. Dr Akula is highly competent and pleasant to interact with. His front office staff are extremely helpful!
