I have been consistently impressed with the level of care and service at Family Health Centers of San Diego, particularly at the 1750 5th Ave location. Two individuals truly stand out during my visits: Roger, the receptionist, and Luis, the Medical Case Manager. From the moment I walk in, Roger greets me with a warm smile and infectious energy. He ensures that my check-in process is smooth and pleasant, always asking if I need anything while I wait for my appointment. In times when I may be feeling anxious or overwhelmed, his friendly demeanor helps lighten the mood and distracts me from any worries. Luis is equally remarkable. He takes the time to understand my needs and proactively offers additional services that might be beneficial, even beyond my initial requests. His extensive exper

This is by far one of the worst organizations for case management. I have been trying since January 1, 2025 to get help with my mental health, and here it is August 5, 2025 and have not made any progress. When i meet with my case manager, all she wants to discuss is what we talked about in the previous appointment, which was what we discussed in our previous appointment, which was nothing. I changed to a different health insurance that had less coverage than my previous insurance just so i could go back to Family Health, especially after they said that my copays would be paid by Ryan White, well, they are not. One person blames another who blames another who blames another. No one jas a clue what they are doing. I cannot wait to switch insurance plans again so i can go back to uc

In 2019 family health centers was the worst medical and case management in San Diego. There was no assistance and there was no options. It was terrible. Case management has improved. My case manager Ruby has been terrific and very understanding and professional. Prior to that I barely saw a case manager that's mine was constantly reassigned and no one knew who I should see. But it has improved greatly and I do appreciate Ruby and the immediate staff at family health center case management. I hope this continues. We need reliable services and there aren't many options. If you're not happy with family health center I highly recommend UCSD. I switched to them for my medical care and have been so much better cared for. Don't give up. Post your story and complain and follow through with your he

Part 1 Do not sign up for their programs under the current management. They do not take dual diagnosis seriously and are only out for money (even though they are supposedly a non-profit); Don't even attempt to try to self advocate because they will not listen to you and take you seriously. I signed up for their Solutions For Recovery program with housing back in March 2023 with a new(ish) counselor. I went until late April to be told that I'm to meet with my counselor and come to find out, it's supposed to be weekly in their IOS (IOP) program. I attended every group via Zoom and had appointments canceled by said counselor at the last minute and NOT rescheduled. In May they went to three days per week in person in the most scary location down where there's drugs, crime and homeless people

You know I have such frustration with family health center. You never get a call back. The service is just seen so hard to get. It's impossible to jump through the hoops when you're in a tough situation either medically mentally or financially whatever it is. It doesn't have to be this hard on people. They are just realize how hard it can be and help not make it hard to get help. They've always been really disappointing overall. My needs don't change. In 18 months I've gotten 9 months worth of service. It's a shame it's not more client need focused. Why does it have to be so hard to get case manager services. Much less a good case manager. Oh well hold a good thought. That's all most of us can do at this point.
