Essentia Health Urgent Care-Virginia

Kind staff member (which is the only reason for an extra star), but otherwise the experience here was horribly slow. Many people (adults) were seen before us despite our child having having what most likely was a torn ligament. A 2 hour wait to get an xray is unreasonably long. I was told the reason is that the urgent care prioritizes patients based on health condition. But all three patients seen before us certainly had nothing life threatening, did not appear to be in pain, and were not exhibiting any signs of contagiousness (eg no coughing). This is the only urgent care I have ever heard about doing this process versus first come, first serve. Our wait was at least 60 to 80 minutes longer due to this. The nursing staff there is nice but Gidget is a patronizing jerk. She refuses to treat even the most severe pain and offered me Tylenol. What a joke. She also likes to make people in pain sit and wait so long that they leave. Avoid Gidget at all costs.

Amos in urgent care is so kind and compassionate. He made me laugh while I was stressing about going to this appointment. He even called me with the results at 7:00 pm. I appreciate him a lot. However, the young lady of Asian heritage poked my arm so hard and still did not find my veins. Very painful and I have a huge bruise. The 2nd lady did it in my hand. Not sure why they can't find veins at this location. I was not dehydrated at all. Went to Mayo clinic few days earlier and they got the vein immediately. Now I have 2 huge bruises in my arm and hand. Very painful. Maybe more training? I've never had this problem until coming here to this lab.

Another positive experience. The first three were for my daughter .. And the staff was wonderful! So i gave it a try when I had a case of pink eye. The receptionist was great she recommended trying the new online care with the nurse in the room. I was in and out in under 10 minutes .. Got great care.

My Son and wife went in to urgent care with the flu to get checked out. Their male nurse Dave(LPN), asked my 13 year old why he didn't have a mask on and before he could answer said, "nevermind, I don't care why you want to get me sick." He continues in the room slamming and throwing things, then gives him a very rough Covid test. Update: We provided more information as requested a couple weeks ago but haven't received a response or any type of follow-up.
