This hospital earns 3 stars when it comes to caring for people with sickle cell disease, and that rating comes from a mix of positive moments and real areas that need improvement. On the good side, the staff members who truly understand sickle cell can be compassionate, patient, and willing to explain treatment options clearly. When you get the right doctor or nurse, you feel heard, and they make sure you’re hydrated, medicated on time, and monitored closely. Some techs and nurses go out of their way to check in, warm blankets are offered, and a few providers genuinely try to move with urgency. Those individual efforts do make a difference. But the biggest issue—and the reason this hospital doesn’t rise above 3 stars—is consistency. For sickle cell patients, timing is everything. Long del

First I want to start off by giving a shoutout to my nurse Herim! Also my techs MiMi and Brittany!! They were amazing throughout my whole hospital experience!! Herim is sooo attentive compared to some of the other rns I had to experience. You can tell she really cares about her job and her patients! Mimi is such a breath of fresh air!! Always checking on me and making sure my needs were met throughout the night! Brittany was my tech during the day and she also was soo attentive.. I stayed almost week and these 3 out of everyone that helped me were by far the best!! Very great attitudes .. I appreciate people like them because some nurses and techs can be very mean .. like they don’t even want to be there so thank you Emory for these 3 beautiful ladies.. Can’t forget about my IV nurse I be

Despite the fact the ER wasnt busy, we waited in the ER for over three hours before even getting to an ER room. I could count the number of folks on one hand. When we finally got moved to an ER room, the nurse seemed to have forgotten about us. The nurse kept getting us confused with her other patients. I was afraid she was going to get the meds mixed up. She told us they had a room being cleaned for us to move to from the ER room within the hour. That was over 4 hrs ago and were still waiting the room to be cleaned so we can move to that one. I guess it was time for a shift changeover, because our new nurse advised theyre still waiting for the room to be cleaned. What type of Mickey Mouse operation is this? Lol The care provided to patients with sickle cell disease here is unacceptably

The ICU and ER nurses and doctors are all incredible. Attentive, sweet, and empathetic for your situation. This is by far the best healthcare staff I’ve ever worked with. They are extremely organized and knowledgeable. I’d like to give a special shout out to my RN Jasmine, she was so supportive and kind and truly deserves a raise. You can tell she genuinely cares for her patients and her job, and unfortunately that is rare to see in healthcare nowadays. But the staff were all incredible and if you are looking for a place to go, I highly recommend this hospital.

My dad had surgery on 10/25/25, and from that day until 10/30/25, I have to say — the ICU staff has been nothing short of amazing. Every single nurse who cared for my father was patient, compassionate, and incredibly attentive. Before this experience, I had honestly lost a lot of faith in the medical field. Over the years, my father has been treated at Emory Saint Joseph many times, and during those visits, I often left disappointed and frustrated. It sometimes felt like people were just doing their jobs for a paycheck, not because they truly cared. I’ve had more than one unpleasant encounter with nurses on other floors. But this time, the ICU staff completely changed my perspective. Every nurse we met not only took excellent care of my dad but also looked after his family — checking on us
