Emergency Medical Services Bureau

NRP for 4 years. Im licensed in 5 states. New Mexico has some very strange rules that I haven't seen in any other state. The Bureau withheld my license renewal for 2022 because my CEUs were from 2/2022 (license expired 3/31/2022) and not from 8/2020 through 12/2021. Read that last sentence once more. Yes, it's correct. They can also charge applicants up to $400 for a license reinstatement. They did not return phone calls. Only responded via email. Also worth mentioning they only accept check or money orders. Arkansas actually has a more efficient and user friendly system than New Mexico. It's strange. Not sure what's going on there but I hope they fix it.

People either don't know or don't realize that the EMSB is one of the most understaffed, underfunded entities in New Mexico. I agree that waiting for email and phone responses can be frustrating, I've experienced it, but as long as your stuff is dated according to requirements and you mail is post marked before its too late, things will get done. Mr Arkansas, if you don't like our system, go back to yours, if you want your NM license, pay the fee...easy peasy. Anyhow, good work EMSB, If the governor asks me, ill ask her for more money for you 😉

I have been trying to call for weeks to ask if it’s possible for me to come in to submit my payment for my EMS license and no one ever answered or ever called back. I decided to just go in because someone I know said that they just went to do the same thing a couple months ago and he had no problem. I got there and it stated that if you needed to see someone or speak to someone in the EMS department to email two specific people. They don’t have any of this information on their website and I wasted 2 hours and gas for nothing because I live an hour away. This is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable especially for an EMS bureau to not answer calls or return calls.

No one answers emails or phone calls. If you do send you money they keep it then tell you it can't be used for the reason you sent it for and that they don't issue refunds. They lose or never receive paperwork all the time. The absolute worst government entity in NM.

Cynthia Romero was unprofessional. Would not or could not give me information about my ems license. She couldn’t even find it. Her excuse, the manager is new. This is taking work hrs away from my annual earnings. Not a way to operate a facility.
