Elderwood at Lockport

The staff is friendly and caring. But there is no Notary available if you didn't pre-plan to be there with POA already set up. Also, they will not provide anyone to witness either. Update...I am informed by the attorney from the Niagara County Office For The Aging that this is now a trend among these facilities. Notary, wills, and other services are provided by that agency free of charge to county residents over 60. You just need to bring your own witness. I just wish that the Elderwood staff were allowed to recommended this course of action, in place of their discontinued service. That would have saved me a week and earned them another star here.

I can't speak enough on how amazing the staff and this facility has been to my father and I. Brittay Stachowicz, Lauryn Betancourt and the rest of the team were so understanding and demonstrated such care and kindness through our difficult time in transitioning my father in and out of the facility. They were thorough, thoughtful and worked with me diligently every step of the way. Words can never express how much I appreciate them and all they do. I am forever grateful to them and Elderwood. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for holding my hand and comforting me through this process.

My grandma went to Elderwood for physical therapy. She had fallen several times at home. It was a huge decision to place her at elderwood Lockport N.Y. She was admitted in October, by January her ability to do everyday life was declining. The staff were wonderful in the rehab unit. So the family decided to permanently place her. I visted every week. Most of the time she was in bed. Her roommate stated they are understaffed and we can’t get out of bed today. We asked how many staff per residents. They said 2 staff/ 40 residents. This is not acceptable. Sometimes it would take an hour to get someone to get my grandma out of bed so we can go to the cafeteria and have lunch together. I’m devastated as My grandma passed in March. She had gotten the flu. When we tried to visit they turned us aw

My mother went to the rehab unit here a little over a year ago and became a resident, she is still there today. Nursing homes have many challenges especially these days with staffing shortages. This nursing home is more like a Home. Mom has had a few issues since being there and the facility is most helpful and informative. They are also very kind and caring. I am always kept informed when mom has any new medical issues or incidents. They always contact me in a timely fashion, sometimes even more than once. They always respond to any questions or concerns I have immediately. It's a well-maintained facility and kept clean. Mom loves the food, she gets to select her meals daily, very cool. Everyone is very nice and when they have a bad egg, they get rid of them, even with staffing shorta

I was advised to read a review after poor care of the only grandma I've ever had. Her time there was not how someone should be cared for towards the end of life. Now I see the employee's are striking for more pay. YOUR PAY RATE IS BASED ON JOB PERFORMANCE! IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR PAY THEN DO YOUR JOB TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY AND YOU WILL BE REWARDED.
