ECU Health Family Medicine Center

My appointment was a great one. I ended up getting another physician because my PCP's next open date was in May and I didn't want to wait that long since it had been about 2 years since my last visit. I can say that the person who I got was honest about everything that they saw and told me what I needed to do and I can honestly say that since that day there has been a difference. Their honesty made me want to give my 100% to correcting my issues. I plan on changing them to being my PCP soon

At my appointment last week somethings were a great improvement and other items were a huge disappointment. Positive first. I began coming in August 2024, my NP impressed me with how well she listened and found found positive comments. However with the change in NP listening wasn't as productive. There was always a comment about what wasn't up to par but limited direction from previous visits. This particular visit was scheduled for 10:20 am. I was early, processed and taken back to the exam room by a capable assistant. She took the necessary vitals and took me to restroom and back to the exam room. I had a very good visit at the ECU Family Medicine on January 9th, 2026. The front desk and check-out staff were pleasant and efficient. I don't recall the nurse name but she was very professional and made me feel at ease. Now, Dr. Coronado Melendez is amazing! Dr. Melendez treated me with kindness and respect. He listened to me! My visits to ECU Health have always been well organized and with great care. However, my visit to ECU Health Neurology was very different. I saw the nurse on time then sat for 38 minutes past my appointment time. The visit consisted of a review of what was in MyChart and questions that had been addressed months ago. It was obvious that there was little foresight given to my visit. $80 later, I knew nothing more than what I knew when I walked in there.

I called the front desk got support for an appointment and Mrs. Shirley answered. She explained that my referral expired and I understand that due to that I have to have a new client appointment. My only concern was trying to talk to someone to see if I could get an earlier appointment. I was explaining to her why, and the reason of urgency. She got highly frustrated with me because it seems as if she was unaware how to go about things exactly, I apologized to her for the confusion and further asked questions to get more clarity and she told me she’ll have to get to me to talk to the manager & took amongst herself to hang the phone up on me.
