East Alabama Medical Center Freestanding Emergency Department

Nurse Practitioner Peter Martin was phenomenal. He took excellent care of my wife!! He was attentive, had great bedside manner, was kind, and professional. Literally the best ER experience I’ve ever had thanks to Peter. The nurse Brooke, who also took care of my wife, was excellent as well. She was polite, listened, and explained what we need to do moving forward. I would suggest this ER to anyone and it’s because of these two FANTASTIC employees.

Nurses were really nice in triage. Nurse practitioner was ok. My blood pressure sky rocketed & it took someone never came to check on me. But then the girl at discharge wanted to argue about that I have a copay due when I tried to explain to her that my out of pocket has been met for the year. Told nicely that I work in insurance as well & offered to even show her the information on my phone that shows my out of pocket met, she got an attitude with me & said no that I need to call the business office because I WILL have a copay. This place was fantastic when they first opened, but now I will just take my services elsewhere.

Dr. Lazeby and team were great! I arrived a little before 1am on a Friday morning, was promptly seen, had an ultrasound, got results from radiology, and was discharged in about 2 hours. Very satisfied with the care received!

WORST ER ever! I came in to get scissors that were handle deep stuck in my backside. The staff is rude and incompetent. The nurses and doctor were laughing and joking while I was crying in pain. They did not offer bedside assistance, very long wait time. Did not prescribe pain medicine, would not give a reasonable doctor’s excuse for an injury such as this. They were rough while treating my two wounds from the scissor insertion even after me saying “ow”. Additionally, they kept saying “you will be fine tomorrow” and “you shouldn’t feel anything at this point”, while also rushing me for everything and kept trying to minimize the pain that I was feeling, also making jokes such as “I wouldn’t like to have scissors in my backside”. This ER has helped us multiple times we’ve had stitches here. In one case was my kiddo had some really bad scratches from a cat across her face and now her scars are barely visible, so we really appreciate the team here! They have always taken great care of us.
