The staff at Dexter House are truly exceptional—attentive, compassionate, and deeply committed to the well-being of every resident. In the beginning, the staff seemed very caring to help my family member, then a turn of negative events quickly happened. Unfortunately, my family member was in and out of the hospital 5 times consistently in a matter of a 2 months stay at this facility. They were not up to protocol when it came to simple medical standards at repositioning patients along with tube feeds/fluids. My family member would go back to the facility just for them to decline in 3-5 days, then sent back to the hospital for the same reasons because again, they weren’t up to protocol with the simple medical standards. Lastly, the most disturbing result from my family’s member stay was that they ended up with a dislocated shoulder because of the roughness during bowel movement changes. I have had a family member at Dexter House recently. It may not be the newest building, but the staff was caring and the place was clean. the nurses and aides were responsive, the food wasn't bad, and therapy did a good job. Its good to know that it is there if we need it again

My family member has been at Dexter House in Malden for a bit, and honestly, it’s been a solid experience. The place is clean, and the staff has been really kind and down-to-earth. They seem to genuinely care, which makes a big difference. It doesn’t feel cold or overly “medical,” which I was a little worried about at first. There’s stuff for residents to do, and the vibe overall is pretty calm and positive. They’ve also kept us in the loop and have been easy to talk to whenever we’ve had questions. Nothing fancy, just good, steady care—and that’s really all we wanted.

I wouldn’t even give it a star at all, the way the nurses ignore me when asking for my uncles tv to be fixed and not have to have 3 remotes to operate a tv which has been an ongoing issue since he’s got there…. mind you he’s lost all access to his right arm and has to use his non dominant hand to operate these remotes and or to remember which one does what….to his room not being cleaned or him not being cleaned is very infuriating. they sit around when he’s in pain and take their sweet time to give pain meds and even the executive director can’t even return a call…… place is disgusting when you walk in smells of urine…. And or iv antibiotics…. Nothing gets addressed they are there for a pay check and do not care about the patients to them he’s just a number to get paid off of
