I have been a long time patient with DSWO and have always been very happy with the care I get there. My Derm Dr. retired last year and I was alittle worried about who i would continue my care with. I was put with Dr. Cortez and I love her. She is a great Doctor and always professional.

My husband was referred to a local surgeon when diagnosed with melanoma. When we got to the surgeon, he asked us how deep the melanoma was. We didn’t know the answer and I would have hoped the dermatologist office would have provided that information. Regardless, AFTER my husband’s surgery, at his follow up appointment, that surgeon walked in and sat down on a trash can and said that he “wished” that he had removed the sentinel lymph node. No one ever called from the Derm office to check on my husband. The result of the lack of information and “wishing” led to an eventual diagnosis at Stage 3 rather than stage 1. He nearly died. He is on lifelong surveillance. The moral of this review is make sure your surgeon is specifically aware of what you need so you aren’t the middleman as you stumbl
