Manager Amanda – Extremely Poor Customer Service I had a very disappointing experience at Depoe Eye Center in Stockbridge, largely due to the behavior of the manager, Amanda. I went in for what was supposed to be a simple refraction for glasses. I had already had two full eye exams with dilation within the last three months (one at this office in December and another with a specialist I was referred to), so I was not comfortable being dilated yet again. The $39 exam fee was never the issue. My concern was having my eyes dilated again and not being able to work on the computer afterward. When I asked if we could skip the full exam and just do the refraction, I was told I “had to” do the exam. I asked to speak to a manager to confirm this policy with my doctor. They provide good optometrist service, but are very lacking in answering, returning, and responding to phone calls and messages. You always get a robot and can leave messages asking for a return call, but it never happens. Once you get to the place ther service is excellent.

As a person of color if you go to the McDonough location be sure to leave your invisible cloak at home. I have had two separate experiences that lead me to believe this is their practice and no accident. First incident I took my son in for a first appointment visit and miraculously two people were seen before him, they even moved us to a second room to accommodate someone else. I immediately canceled his appointment and took him somewhere else. As I have been a customer for the past 4 years and let it go as an accident. Until today when I go in to pick up glasses and told to sign in. I sign and see two ladies helping other customers. Another customer walks in and one of those same ladies breaks her neck to get to the customer and retrieve her glasses. I inquire do you not look at th

I scheduled my 10 year old son for an eye exam and the process was seamless. Everyone was welcoming, knowledgeable and professional. They have a good variety of glasses and his glasses came in earlier than expected. Highly recommend.

I was going to give a three star review. DePoe is nice and has nice equipment. However, I go to the optometrist to see clearly. I don't see clearly. You can have the friendliest receptionists and nicest equipment, but it all means nothing if I can't see. I have been through this process so many times. My prescription hasn't changed in 15 years. These optometrists can't tell me if I have an odd shape cornea or not. They don't know why contact lenses don't fit. The machine gives them the fit, and they use it. It's the same deal no matter the cost. The "doctor" of optometry told me to deal with the poorly fitted contact lenses. These were much worse than the prescription I paid $125 for at Visionworks. I paid close to $300 at DePoe. The difference in cost can almost pay for designer frames.
