Customer Reviews
I wanted to share my fantastic educational experience I received with Amy Patterson. When you get information about your genetics it can be scary and overwhelming but Amy spent an hour explaining my exact results answered all of my questions and gave me practical advice to follow through with. Amy also gave me my complete printouts since, I wasn’t able to access. Amy provided me with peer viewed studies and reviewed them with me to ensure my understanding, that fit my genetic diagnosis. Lastly, Amy told me her to message her in a year or two so that she can let me know if there has been any new findings on my diagnostic matches. I am very grateful to Amy and the JH dept of Genetics for what they do to educate, ease and empower their clients like myself and I’m certain all the patients that
The genetic Oncology department is the most horrible department in medicine in Johns Hopkins. I was referred b my GP due to a very serious terminal condition to rule out whether my gene mutation is hereditary, based on which the doctors would be figuring out my treatment. The person who answers the phone - Fatisha- told me that "you can be put on a waiting list because all our genetic consultants are booked". Wait what? I thought first you give an appointment (even if it's 6 months out) and them put me on a waiting list if something comes up sooner. Nevertheless, my mom called the same week, and Fatisha offered her an appointment right away? I called back, explained my urgent situation, and Fatisha again said to me: I will put you on a waiting list and "maybe" you will get a call from us i
Really terrible. I've got a few rare and serious pathogenic mutations. At least one is hereditary. Others are "almost" figured out based on very unusual labs. Me and my two boys both have signs and symptoms. Others in my family do too. I wanted to make an appt to see a geneticist familiar with neurocutaneous syndromes. Tried making an appointment and got forwarded to a nurse who was quite patronizing. "Just because you have this disorder doesn't mean you have that disorder". Actually I can produce two papers published in medical journals that speculates there is a link. And isn't that what they're supposed to be doing anyway? Helping sick people figure out whether they have a disease or not? They really need to clean house.
Super unprofessional my son just got out of the hospital from spine surgery and I tried to reschedule his genetic testing and they at 6-9 months out and we’ve waited a year for this appointment. Front desk said well what are you going to do keep it or reschedule it’s your only option in the rudest tone ever.
