Every doctor and nurse has been very kind. They have all taken great care of my mom. When she felt hungry, they brought her food and drinks. My mom had an IV catheter in her left hand the whole time. The IV fluids made her hand feel swollen and painful. She asked the nurse(Perin Mwaniki)if it would be possible to switch the IV to her other hand. The nurse said yes. They moved it to her right hand and even gently massaged her left hand to help it relax and relieve the discomfort. We are very grateful for the care provided by every nurse and doctor. Thank you very much😊.
My daughter’s father was admitted to this hospital for cancer and found out it was pancreatic cancer. They can’t take the tumor out because it was too close to a vein. His kidneys were not functioning well so they said he needed a feeding tube to put nutrients to the kidneys. The bile duct had blockages so they had a stint in but replaced it with a medal tube at the same time. Also had an Endoscopy at the same time. So the patient had extreme constipation and finally had to have an enema. Then he had severe diarrhea. They stopped the feeding tube. All this time the patient is not getting any food except from his IV. Our family member was transported to another hospital even before he was stable! This hospital does not do anything for chemotherapy which is what he will eventually need to sh
We were disappointed with CPMC for my dad's staying with them. All they cared was money, not a patient's health. When my dad was inpatient, we asked about the medical status. They told us the lab results were pending and no plans yet. Then a day later, my dad informed us that he got a treatment and would be discharged the next day. Nothing was discussed with any of our family members. My dad is senior and does not speak any English. When we went to the hospital and requested to talk to the doctor during business hour. We were waiting in the patient room for more than an hour and the nurse told us there was no estimated time. So we left. Finally doctor called back and discussed. The case manager was horrible. She was telling us "he's determined that he did not need to be hospitalized. If he
Nursing staff is awesome. Easy to communicate with by phone and took very good care of my family member. Care management was horrible! No continuity! There was a different person every day and they knew nothing about my family member's medical status or needs for discharge. The wrong equipment was ordered for discharge and they were impossible to get in touch with afterwards to rectify the situation. Not even a call back. Absolutely disgraceful. To think you're handling people's lives and you don't even have the decency or respect to take 5 minutes out of your day to tend to a sick person's needs. They should be ashamed of themselves!
We took our son Sergej to the CPMC Van Ness Emergency Department after school because he had a fever and a sore throat, and the whole experience was absolutely wonderful. We waited less than two minutes before being taken to our own private room, and the children’s waiting area was separate and very calm. The staff quickly ran all the necessary tests and made sure Sergej felt comfortable and cared for the entire time. While we were waiting, they even brought him some snacks, and as a lovely touch, gave him a little duck toy before we left. Everyone was kind, professional, and genuinely caring — such a warm and reassuring experience!
