Went with our 5 day old perfectly healthy baby today since having a pediatric is the thing to do… While waiting a 3 year old coughing walked in. Then a very sick young teenager walked in. There is a sick entrance but in this day and age no one seems to read or care. Receptionist should have simply asked, “is your child sick?” And then directed them to the sick area. In the name of health we expose our baby to sickness??? Office also seemed dated and a poor choice for care in this day and age. We decided to leave without being seen.

I had an appointment today that I, truthfully, was 10 minutes late for. I overheard the check in person say that they have a policy that if you’re 18 minutes late (bizarre time to me too, I would have thought you’d settle on 15 or 20 for the policy), you aren’t seen. I was relieved, checked in 8 minutes before their cutoff time. Then I started receiving bizarre comments that Dr. Gutierrez may not see you but we’ll keep you informed. I said that I didn’t mind waiting, I was 10 minutes late due to SD traffic. I was expected, per gps, to be 15 minutes early. Unfortunately the cards weren’t in my favor and I ended up being late. Carmen (someone who works for them) sat next to me & said you’ll be seen. Nothing. Eventually, they hand me a tablet to complete initial check in, fine on my end, no p

Missed important diagnosis. Despite bringing my baby there multiple times and being told that everything was fine, this group missed a developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) diagnosis due to poor physical exam. I even suggested doing some imaging to be sure, but they said no. Now we are late to start treatment and my child may need surgery. Never going back there again. Doctors and NPs need to know how to perform routine physical exams on infants. This is unacceptable.

My kids started with Dr. Carson as babies and moved to Dr. Loper when they got older. We've always been very satisfied and felt well taken care of by this team.

Both my children have always gotten excellent care here. Scheduling can be tricky, but when they are really sick the triage nurses are great at getting us in. Book regular check ups 4-6 months in advance though.
