I am writing this review to share the devastating experience my family had during my wife’s final days. My wife was battling cancer and her health was clearly declining. Every day, I asked the doctors if she was getting better; every day, I was told "yes." In reality, she was not getting better—she was transitioning into active dying. Because of the misleading information I was given, I didn't realize how little time we had left. I eventually made the decision to take her home for hospice care so she could be at peace. Even though her condition was worsening, the staff’s lack of empathy regarding our family was stunning. I asked if my grandchildren could come to the hospital to say their final goodbyes. A nurse told me "no," stating that since she was going home, they could just see her
I will always believe that my husband's decline to his death after being stable and recovering was because of neglect from nurses. Sometimes nurses would not check on him for hours. I should have stayed with him that night. I thought I could trust the nurse. I was wrong. When my husband's heart rate went extremely high and his blood pressure went inordinately high, his nurse left him and went to the other end of the building to do compressions on another patient. His excuse was that he was the only man on duty and so he had to do the compressions. So no women nurses can do compressions at CSH I suppose. There were some good ones, but we rarely got them and certainly not for 2 nights in a row before he died.
My husband, children and I will forever be grateful with Covenant and their entire staff. They were professional courteous and compassionate with my husband and myself despite me being complicated. My husband came in with multiple complications from being hit by a vehicle. We were transferred from UMC with no hope that my husband would ever be able to have a somewhat normal life again. We were told he would be paralyzed and would not be able to breath on his own due to the c1 fracture he had among other injuries. We were recommended sending him to a nursing home but I refused and wanted to do home health. We were pushed off on Covenant to try to get the trach out at least so he could come home. Covenant Specialty took the time and worked on getting him off the trach. He is breathing on h
I am a provider that doesn't get paid when my clients are at the hospital so it's my own money that buys drinks and food. July 2014. My wife was recovering very well from routine surgery. Sunday morning 1015. Am. Was told by Doctor she was going to be just fine he left the center 20 minutes later she took her last breath. While I tried to help. I will not go into detail about what had happened just 45 minutes before. Long story short they dropped the ball. And my beloved wife paid with her precious life.
