Avoid this hospital if you are disabled from an accident or something of that nature. The case workers will force you to do an unsafe discharge which violates the NY State Health Bill of Rights. Absolutely I'd avoid the case manager Sue. I'll go into great detail on what happened here. The location they sent me to is so understaffed, they only have 1 nurse and 1 aid tending to 46 patients. This hospital's case workers team does not view inpatient people as actual human beings. You're just a # to them. If somewhere has a bed offer, it doesn't matter if you legally are aloud to have the decision to go there or not. They knowingly and willingly will break the law. My lawyer is reaching out for all the documents he needs to address what happened to me here. DONT let Upstate University Hospital

This is nice medical facility. I've been to this facility a couple of times and staff have been very professional

The worst ever. Waited five hours and finally left. The triage guy said “he was waiting for me die on the floor” since I was “still breathing” it “wasn’t urgent.

My sister was in there, my dad visited and asked if I could bring my 6yo son, they said yes absolutely. So we made quite a long drive the next day to be told that wasn't true. I called up and they said they can probably make an exception but we'd have to wait a few minutes for the supervisor to approve. After waiting another hour and 15 minutes, they denied the request. We wasted a full half day after being told misinformation. The worst part was that my sister was struggling with mental health heavily and she was extremely excited to see her nephew after being lied to and told she could, and then after them getting our hopes up again that day, only to wait and wait and wait and be told no.... Also I called the complaint center and left a message and got no response.

If you need care and have the option to choose Community, do it. It's always been the best hospital in the city and now having the resources of Upstate backing them it's continuing to be even better.
