Commonwealth Health Regional Hospital of Scranton

I am a retired Moses Taylor employee, and was a bit out of my comfort zone going to Regional . I was treated very kindly, from the moment I stopped at the information desk, then to the registration representative in the Radiology area. Dustin, the Nuclear Medicine technologist was oexcellent. He explained things very thoroughly, and took time and care in all he did. My procedure took longer than either of us expected. He was very knowledgeable, and I was reassured with his explanation of what was happening. How Fortunate Regional is to have such a fine professional on their staff! On one of the sites on Google, the reviews were so bad that I was nervous about taking my husband there for cardiac care. So I want to say that he has everything good to say about his procedure, the staff and the Dr who did his procedure. I found the staff friendly, helpful and caring. Nurses are knowledgeable and efficient. I do think the city of Scranton could be more supportive of the hospital by having free parking around them as the parking garage is not sufficient. Many people who park there, take up two parking spots which additionally limit parking space.

Everyone at Regional Hospital Surgery Center was great to work with. They made me feel very well taken care of. Every nurse and doctor that I saw that day were so pleasant, comforting and caring which is something you need.

The staff generally was kind and courteous. My procedure was late 1.5 hours. The phlebotmotist took my blood after putting on gloves and then touching everything. I felt that was unsanitary. After my surgery i discovered two large black holes in the back of my mouth. I never had that happen before. Evidently the anisteologist couldn't find my throat. I hope I never get her again. The nurses in preop and postop were really great. My recovery has been very smooth.

I originally posted this on the Wound Care site by mistake. Terrible hospital! My elderly mother has been in and out for a few weeks due to an illness. Every stay, and every floor has had the same horrible care. Some nurses may be nice but the efficiency of this hospital is unbelievable. You tell an 85 year old to NOT get out of bed without a nurse and then disregard her needs. Not having enough staff is a terrible excuse to tell a patient and her family for not helping her with personal care. There is a serious lack of communication between nurses and doctors and whatever policy exists here. Go somewhere else if you can, you will not get good care here.
