Date of visit: December 2, 2025 – Around 7:00 PM Location: Comer Children’s Hospital – Chicago I am writing this review with deep disappointment and concern regarding the service my family received during our recent visit to Comer Children’s Hospital. This was our first time at this hospital, and unfortunately, the experience confirmed many of the negative comments we had heard beforehand. The main issue lies in the first point of contact: the front desk staff and the security personnel. Upon arrival, our baby had a 40°C fever (104°F) and was showing signs of near convulsion due to the high temperature. Instead of receiving urgent attention, we were met with extremely rude behavior from the reception staff and complete indifference from security, who were more focused on their phones th
I’m so very disappointed in this hospital. PICC lines were inserted into my daughter by Mark Abe and Katie Hamburger incorrectly which caused her to have arrhythmias. Which I was not told about. I had to read the description of what happened on MyChart. They then forced me to consent to put her on an ECMO machine saying she would die without it. Dr. Tyler Gunn performed the surgery of inserting cannulas into her legs. The cannulas failed the next day causing my 16 year old daughter to go into cardiac arrest. 5 days later they cleaned out the area where the cannulas had been repaired to see that she had cut veins and holes in her veins which I only found out after pulling her records. The drs continuously harassed us to remove her from life support after she woke from a coma with brain dama
I recently had a procedure done at the children’s hospital, and I cannot express enough how phenomenal my experience was from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, every single staff member made me feel safe, seen, and genuinely cared for. The nurses were unbelievably kind, patient, and comforting. They talked to me like a real person, not just a patient, and that made all the difference. I want to give a special shout-out to Dr. Kabbany, who was truly exceptional. He explained everything in a way that calmed my nerves immediately, and his gentle approach made me feel completely at ease before my procedure. The anesthetists and the rest of the care team were just as amazing. Keeping the environment light and reassuring, while their teamwork and compassion showed in every moment.
Your car may be ticketed and towed near the U. of Chicago Hospitals. Parking is difficult, but a boulevard named Midway Plaisance has a few spaces in the daytime. But 'the Midway' is a tow zone overnight, and the warning signs easy to miss. It's a double street, running East-West, between 59th and 60th. In a tree-lined area. If you park there, don't leave your car overnight. The city will tow it to a far-off neighborhood with a huge fine to get it back.
They have never in my 17 years of sending my two kids here let me down! Both my kids were born here....my daughter has had two major surgery. And my son one minor surgery the doctors calmed and reassured us through all the procedures. If you have to visit the e.r they're very accommodating and move quickly to get you seen. I also love how they'll send a child life specialist around to calm your child through the process. The waiting area and rooms are really nice and clean. All the doctors and staff go above and beyond. I really don't have a bad word to say about this place. Lastly, it's really appreciated that parents are provided three meals during the stay....so we can just concentrate on our children. THANKS COMERS!!!!!
