Columbine Health Systems

Earlier this year, my sister spent most of her final 4 months of life in Centre Avenue Health and Rehab, from the rehab floor to long-term nursing to hospice. In prior years, she had also been a patient at Centre; especially during the pandemic, the facility seemed understaffed, the employees acted stressed, and care was not optimal. But this year, the care was great, staff were competent and caring. Though my sister was sometimes a difficult and strident person, the staff took the efforts to get to know her, to respect her and often to truly like her. That made all the difference to my sister. I was frequently impressed by the compassionate nature of the staff, their efforts to make my sister’s life just a little easier and brighter, their professional demeanor, and their level of caring.

My mother went to the Columbine Lemay campus for rehab after breaking her leg. She arrived healthily and left very sick. The therapy team was amazing but the medical oversight needs much attention. We found that many staff members were more willing to talk to me and listen to me and didn't hear her when she reported feeling sick. When she did ask for treatment or testing, it was delayed as were medicines to help. She left with an intestinal bug that needed to be reported to the state but they let her leave untested until I had to take her to the ER the next day. Once she was at home we found that significant diagnoses were missing from the paperwork sent to her home health care follow-up team. The home health care rep seemed to think that was fairly normal. I am appalled that this company is still allowed to operate. My mom was there and we had to have her transferred out due to them not feeding her a diabetic diet or not bringing her food at all. If you love you family take them literally anywhere else.

This is absolutely the WORST place to have a family member cared for. Melissa in the billing office is very rude, inconsiderate, and condescending to deal with. They will hold onto you money for months before providing a refund. I wish that I could give them no stars. STAY AWAY FROM HERE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!

I have family members as well as many friends that have received amazing care at several of the Columbine facilities. We recommend them for all of their services. They truly care and that is hard to find.
