Clarity Speech and Cognition

Having the opportunity to work with Miriam has been a true blessing. My father has swallowing issues due to a muscle disorder. He was not allowed to eat any food by mouth, only through feeding tube for a year. Miriam worked with him for months to help him regain strength to swallow foods again. She was very patient with him and left written instructions to help him remember how to swallow properly. She was in constant communication with me to help him reach his goals. I am happy to report that he has had the feeding tube removed and graduated from eating pureed foods to small soft bites. This has been life changing for him.

Miriam is absolutely amazing! She began treating my wife, Joanne, back in March 2024. Jo had speech aphasia due to a brain disorder/disease. Miriam's expertise, endless patience, her friendly, gentle encouragement & dedication to help Jo improve & maintain her speech clarity & fluency was never ending. When Jo started losing her voice in the recent months, Miriam taught Jo & the family how to use the Lingraphica tablet (speech generating device) which allowed Jo to continue communicating with family, caregivers & doctors. Jo had seen many therapists in the last 4 years and they would end the sessions after a 2-3 months. Miriam never gave up, consistently saw Joanne for 8 months until Jo passed away in November. We can't say enough about Miriam and how so very grateful we are to have known

My sister, who has advanced MS with speech and cognitive issues has been working with Miriam over the past year. Miriam is very caring, attentive and patient with my sister. She is able to bring a smile to my sister's face (which is not easy at times) and has made strides in improving my sister's communication---encouraging her to speak vs. yell as well as express her needs. The tactics Miriam uses to improve speech are very creative. Miriam goes above and beyond to engage my sister. For example, Miriam painted my sister's nails to encourage a discussion on nail painting. I would highly recommend Miriam to anyone needing speech and cognitive therapy!

I am a young stroke survivor. I had my first stroke in Dec 2013 at 27, and my second stroke came in November 2021 at 35. Clarity Speech and Cognition were a Godsend! Firstly I could not find any speech therapist in Prince Georges county. My insurance provided a couple of numbers to call, but they were not speech therapists, and one woman said she quit! Clarity Speech and Cognition (Miriam) was fantastic! She came to my house, and we discussed my goals and listened to me. She understood my intellect and catered to our plan to return to my career and life! Without her, I would not be where I am today! She got me my life back! I cannot thank you enough! We still communicate now and again to discuss my goals and what is going on! If I could give Miriam 10 stars, I would!

Miriam is a caring, patient and knowledgeable therapist. She worked with my 89 year old mother and successfully changed her eating and drinking habits. Miriam communicates very well with family members so I always knew how my mom was progressing. Thank you for your kindness and for helping my mom.
