To the leadership and CEO of ChristianaCare Wilmington Campus This is unacceptable. Every single time patients walk into this ER, the excuse is the same: “We’re understaffed.” Or “Waiting room is crowded” At this point, that is not an explanation…it’s a leadership failure. Chronic understaffing is a systems issue, not a patient problem. I am sitting in your emergency room right now watching people bleed on the floor. I’ve watched patients vomit on the floor. Instead of urgency or compassion, staff sprinkle powder over bodily fluids, toss a yellow cloth down, and walk away like this is routine. Like human beings in crisis are just inconveniences. The wait times are outrageous. The environment feels chaotic and unclean. The building is constantly under construction, yet the quality of care

I had such a wonderful experience at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington. I went in for emergency care and from the moment I checked in until the moment I left, the service was outstanding. Every person who came into my room was kind, considerate, and very aware that I was not feeling well. I was offered blankets, pillows, and something to eat and drink, and I felt cared for in a way that truly surprised me. The staff members who worked with me made me feel safe and supported during a scary moment. Their kindness felt sincere, and it meant more to me than I can fully express. I left feeling grateful for the level of care I received and very impressed by the entire experience. This was my first (and hopefully last) emergency room visit in Delaware, and I am so thankful that it was such a pos

This ER was amazing! From the security guards, the nurses, the techs to the doctors. Dr. Gekko especially was great! I work at a hospital as a lab supervisor and I think our ER does an amazing job. I never expected to have the absolutely perfect and efficient care at another hospital. All questions were answered and time was spent letting the patients know they really cared. I was there with a friend who had fallen and I not only saw the fantastic job they did with her but also saw the same care given to others. Hospital work is hard especially the ER. I know how hard it is not to get burnt out. Every hospital is short staffed and overworked. But at this hospital they put the patients above everything else. Thank you and well done! Ginny McMath

Long over due review, approximately 2 years ago, I could not let this slide. My friend (the patient) received treatment at the Wilmington campus, we were very dissatisfied with one of the nurse’s care, Nurse Sally. She told my friend’s family member that came to visit they were uncooperative, which was not true. Patient and I were asking questions as she moved and talked fast about what she was going to do. She didn’t did not wait, and got annoyed when the patient or I asked questions medications and treatment. One of our question had to do with pill vs iv form of a medication. She presented option of pill or iv form of medication, patient request pill, she ended up still giving the iv form because she was frustrated with our questions. Also had an issue with iv giving a very painful bur

Wilmington campus is the absolute worse area I've ever been to in my entire life. The doctors lack empathy, they're slow and insensitive. I had major surgery at the hospital last April and had to come to the ER and I was here for 22 hours, none of the doctors were on the same page, I was admitted and discharged twice due to lack of collaboration and communication. I sat in the waiting room for 6 hours sitting on my incisions to the point where I lost blood and my hemoglobin dropped. Lack of concern for my pain and the story goes on. Christiana care needs to do better. Maybe consider allowing Penn medicine take over. I moved here 4 years ago and I still go back to Philly for most of my care evens visiting the ER when I can.
