CHKD Tidewater Children's Associates

Don't even waste your time. We are coming from a private practice that closed down due to the main doctor's retirement. I chose Tidewater Children's Associates bc they are connected to CHKD and of course I'm very familiar with their urgent care for children. Coming in as a new patient was arduous, multiple back and forth to confirm the receipt of medical records. When my child was finally seen, we felt like a number. The doctor lacked beside manner didn't even communicate with my child to make them feel comfortable, it was cold and sterile. When asked if they would be the new PCP, their response was "sure, you can put me down, your child probably wont see the same doctor twice". This doesn't work for our family. Front desk staff is great. Doctors and back of house staff were rude and generally unfriendly. Vaccines were pushed very hard and I felt judged for declining them. The doctor was more of a salesman than a healthcare professional. The condition I asked to be checked wasn’t even talked about during the visit. My son cried his eyes out in the car after his visit because we were treated so poorly…again. Never coming back and I warn others from coming here. They are a business and not a care facility.

We have been going to this practice since 2019 and have seen all the seasons there. Front desk staff is definitely gotten better. But the nurses who assist Doctors or gives Vaccinations to baby need to be more warm, friendly to kids. There are these 2 Nurses.. don’t want to mention name, always look tired, zero energy and I get dread when my baby needs to get vaccinated by them. Anyway.. today we have an appointment for 10 am and we were 20 min before there but our Doctor visit happens after 1.5 hrs… We were very upset. I mean if the schedule is delay, front desk shall inform the patient. We are looking to move to new practice.

1-Star Review (Wish I Could Give 0 Stars) My experience with this office—particularly with the office supervisor, Megan—was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. 😖 Her complete lack of empathy, poor listening skills, and dismissive attitude made an already stressful situation even worse. I called to explain why we needed to reschedule my daughter’s appointment (due to unforeseen circumstances) and to book a new visit with her primary care physician (PCP). Instead of showing understanding, Megan was condescending, repeatedly interrupted me, and fixated on labeling it a "NO SHOW" rather than addressing my concerns. Between my 2 children, we've seen at least 4 of the doctors at this practice and have enjoyed all of them. They're breastfeeding friendly and when my newborn started to exhibit signs of food allergies, Dr. Baker was quick to give us a referral to an allergist. The nurses are amazing and wait times are short. I consider ourselves lucky that we choose this office when we moved here.
