Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters: Children's Urology Department

Been leaving messages and calling for an appt for over a month. Finally got a call back and appt 1 month and a half away from now.... They told me if my child's urinary issues continue. to keep going to the ER until then. So if scheduling and office administration is like this, I can't wait to see how the medical staff will be. Really disappointed in healthcare practice management. Do Better by your patients!

Over the course of the last month, I have left several messages during business hours and have NEVER received a call back. I have called repeatedly and finally got an answer. The receptionist was abrasive(giving the benefit of the doubt), every single piece of information given has had to be repeated multiple times from my daughters name and dob to referring provider information. I've worked in medical for many years, and maybe its just always been at offices that provide care for their patients in more way than just the specialty from the doctor, but this office falls short to say the least. I find it hard to feel confident in the care we could receive here based on the experience so far. Does the care in this healthcare facility only pertain to the doctor? Where is the care? We have worked with the CHKD urology department since just before our son was born. He is now 15 months old. We typically followed up every 3 months for his conditions. At first, the doctor seemed willing to work with our different approach and considered the uniqueness of our situation. But everything changed after a hospital stay due to his condition. And I personally don’t believe the change in our doctor was simply because of the hospital stay. I think it had more to do with the urologist on call who wanted to automatically push surgery on our 8 month old. Suddenly, our doctor was pushing for the same thing. Dr. Fox is incredible. She has performed two surgeries on my son at 10 months old and 23 months old. She is precise, experienced, knowledgeable, and so warm and empathetic. As a nurse myself, I had lots of questions, concerns, and post op worries. She addressed my fears and questions with knowledge and reassurance. She also took my concerns seriously and made time between her busy schedule to fit in seeing my son when we had post op concerns. Urology procedures are challenging with lots of variables outside of the doctor's control. Dr. Fox takes every precaution and is particularly skillful in a complicated field of medicine.
