Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Pulmonology - Mount Vernon Highway

Called to reschedule an appointment at 1:23PM due to a email letting me know the Doctor had a change in his schedule, which happens, no problem, the receptionist that answered could only find a appointment at the end of August, MONTHS after my 26weeker micropreemie with chronic lung disease was due to be seen to get his medications re-evaluated for his weight and dosage. The receptionist came back on the line that she found a appointment for the same day ( today ) at 2:00pm, I live 45mins away, I was very clear with the receptionist and even put in my gps for a accurate eta, the receptionist assured me as long as I was there within their 20minute grace period for appts there would be no issue, never have I ever been late or had to use a “grace” period for such a important appointment. Great experience for our first time there there. Everyone was welcoming and having a movie on for the kids was great too; calm the little nerves before the appointment. The room we were in was facing the highway so that was fun watching cars pass while waiting for entertainment. lol. There’s plenty of parking in the garage too.

We have been with this office for 18 months now. I have been told by the nurses that they follow the dr instructions without input from the parents when I told them I wasn’t comfortable with my child getting as much albuterol as they gave her the time before because it made her sick and I wanted them to try a lower dose first. The phone staff is always grumpy when I’m scheduling and I have left the office crying before. I do not feel like the parent and staff are a team in this office. I’m looking for a new clinic.

Horrible service, horrible doctors, I was within the grace period and they still wouldn’t take us. People have to park and stuff we can’t just magically appear in the office , I’m so annoyed, these are childrens respiratory systems y’all are dealing with like get real! Then they told me a reschedule date 2 months out after being within the grace period. Receptionists stated they spoke with the doctor and the doctor wanted to reschedule. Do not take your child here, I feel like the doctor just didn’t feel like working.

Update: We have left this practice, at least for the time being. After our doctor essentially gave up on helping find a solution to our son’s unfortunate reaction to the medication he was on, our pediatrician worked with us to find the solution and recommended we find a new pulmonologist. —— It’s stressful topic, and I will admit I was getting frustrated between appointments, but the last time we went in our doctor was incredibly helpful! She was patient and kind with us in this new situation. She also spent a good amount of time talking us through our many questions.
