CHA Somerville Urgent Care Center

Taking financial advantage of sick desperate people. My daughter went here for urgent care and had a bunch of tests done when she specifically asked the doctor that she didnt want to do if it was expensive the doctor assured her they were no problem and her insurance would cover them. One was for a PCR test that in Mass usually costs about $200. They subsequently charged her insurance $1650. On calling to dispute the cost she was informed by a curt and almost jubilant admin person in their billing that they were 'like a hospital' and so could charge hospital rates but it was better than a hospital because she paid less to 'walk in'. She is facing a $950 payment now thanks to this irresponsible doctor. Who by the way gave poor advice and did not give her anything despite being an asthmatic

This urgent care waiting room is like the Wild West for being called up - totally disorganized. Then they don’t do bloodwork or give fluids in this urgent care - so not sure what they do do. I had a terrible experience in their ER several years ago and don’t know why I thought their urgent care would be any better. Your better off going to Harvard Vanguard urgent care - 100/10 experience every time with supportive organized staff.

Avoid this urgent care at all costs. Dismissive in appointments and recklessly irresponsible in follow up care (more so their lack of it). My partner saw Dr. Kanderi on 8/29 for a month long sinus infection and serious throat pain. Rather than probing further about the symptoms that brought us there, Dr. Kanderi dismissed the symptoms by saying she’d seen worse and then spent the rest of the appointment focusing on a headache mentioned in passing. Half of the recommended follow up instructions were entirely about the headache, hardly addressing the reason we came in. While they ran the appropriate tests, CHA never followed up about the culture results, so we visited another urgent care today since the symptoms had worsened. Came with what I believed to be a tiny splinter in the bottom of my foot. Would have removed myself but the angle was too awkward. They looked and couldn’t see anything. They gave me an xray (yup, for a splinter) and said they still weren’t sure. Gave me a referral that “should call within two days” to see a podiatrist. Offered me crutches (not even kidding). Got to work, pregnant and very cranky coworker hears this story and says, let me look at that. It was a tiny piece of glass, she had it out in 10 second and no pain. Provider was Danielle Silverman. Unbelievable.

Terrible experience. Refused to see me even though I'm a CHA patient. Nurse on duty had an attitude and very rudely told me and to go to the emergency room instead, after my primary doctor had referred me to urgent care (and I did not have an emergency). Not really sure what the point of this urgent care is since it seems they don't provide basic services. Why is CHA so disorganized that they are referring patients here when urgent care isn't able to help?
