Amy at registration was great, and my nurse was kind. The wait wasn’t horrible, I was sent in by my physical therapist who refused to complete her evaluation based on her concern for a very serious spinal condition. She had told me if nuerosurgery did not return hers or my call by end of day to go to the emergency room. She wanted imaging done to rule out the condition. They gave me an IV almost immediately, I have a urine sample. My nurse took my blood but it was never ordered for labs so it wasn’t tested. My urine showed high levels of sugar, which I have been battling from a week previous steroid injection. I had a medical student evaluate me. He was nice, semi thorough, after he left a muscle relaxer(robaxin 1000mg) and toridol were ordered and given by IV. This did not help my pain.

Wish I could give zero stars if I could. My mom was seen here tonight and had some issues regarding her surgery. Was in extreme pain, but was waiting in the waiting room for 5 hours. They did some tests and X-rays but never got back to her. The lady at the front desk was rude, wish I got her name but didn’t. This hospital doesnt really care about their patients but their paychecks more. If you have time, go to East Carolina Hospital in New Bern or Chapel Hill if you have the time. Carteret General has no interest in their patients whatsoever.

The wait time for the ER wasn't bad, and the nurses and cna were very friendly and helpful. Negative side was the doctor. She popped in for 5 minutes, if even, and then was gone, and we were transferred to a different hospital with the resources we needed. How someone thinks they can bill over 1600 dollars for what wasn't even 5 minutes of time and didn't examine anything themselves while we were there is beyond me.

Today I was scheduled for a day surgery procedure. After checking in , Pang took me back and quickly got me prepped for my procedure. As I was waiting, an emergency came in that had to be treated , so I had a little wait but emergencies should go before my routine. Then the Or ladies came to get me( I apologize for forgetting their names) but they paid special attention to my cranky shoulder and made sure all was good before they slid in the meds. Next thing I was in recovery with Margaret Ann, who took excellent care, until she shipped me off to Sally. If I’ve gotten any names backwards I’ll blame it on the age or the drugs, but all ladies were kind, compassionate, and professional! Of course Dr Merrit is the best and Dr Bates did his job wonderfully. Thanks for taking such good care of m

So I wrote a review for ER, but I would like to write one for the surgical ward. After an urgent surgery to clear a blockage of my small intestine, spent seven days in their care. Doctor came in at least once every day. Explained the next treatment (mostly getting me upright and mobile to deal with the unavoidable side effects of surgery). Had excellent nurses, but I want to call out Kelli on dayshift who was amazing. I also want to thank the nursing assistant Steph who sat with me and helped me dealing with the NG tube and severe nausea (could only have one infusion of medication every six hours for it).
